I think Obama could take it although part of me has grave reservations about him being able to accomplish as much. But if he does, he won't ask Clinton I don't think (which IMO would be a big mistake----that would sew it up for the Dems). But if not Clinton, I suggest either Jim Webb or Wes Clark (he's be a great pick----solidly backs Clinton so he'd get that vote, has the military advantage in the war issue which Obama is weakest on, he's to the left even of Obama, and...
