Insider - the building committee does not have to be appointed until an architect or designer is hired. It does not hurt to appoint one earlier and John Bell could have done so, but there was not much of a delay. I think the real mistake was Mayor Bell and the previous school committee not considering an architect right at the start, but I have to admit I was one of those who thought an architect an unnecessary expense for just adding modular classrooms.

What a holey moley mess...from start to finish. Perhaps it makes sense just to say "mess" and let the other "stuff" go...it will be very intriguing to see how this is played out and what the final outcome will be.

On December 5th, 2007, Mayor Bell sent a funding request to the City Council for the Modular Classrooms.

It was sent to him from the School Committee and sat on his desk for an extended period of time.

On December 11th, Mayor Bell requested that the funding request be withdrawn and postponed until the new Mayor and Council is sworn in.

On January 4th, Mayor Kirk submits the same funding request to the City Council

On January 8th, the Council votes for...
