If we are going to have a lottery we should have our own system so all the money stays in Gloucester.

Also, if we grew our own marijuana and sold that we could make alot of money for Gloucester too. TFB, it's ILLEGAL!

If we are going to have a lottery we should have our own system so all the money stays in Gloucester. It is truly pathetic if residents here spend $ 800 per year per person on such nonsense. Society will have to provide food and shelter to those stupid fools who gamble away their money year after year until they are broke. That $23 million we squander each year could be put to much better use than having 90% of it going off island to political boondoggles around the state. As for our mayor...

I think it is useful to make the point that the lottery is transferring money from poor and moderate income communities to wealthy communities by means of the crazy distribution formula. If the lottery profits were distributed based on either need or on the ticket sales in the community, I would not feel so strongly about it. Of course we would still be transferring from poor to rich, but at least within the community. Let's face it, people in Weston and Lexington spend little on lottery...

If you eliminate lottery sales in Gloucester, those who partake will go to the next town and buy the tickets ... just like people used to drive to New Hampshire to buy alcohol on Sundays.

You can't ban individual choice ...
