			<description><![CDATA[ Last night the School Committee voted to plant two trees for every one that is lost at any site.

I recognize that a sapling doesn&#39;t replace a 40-year old tree, however, it is a start.  I think the committee does give a hoot.

As for the census.  The fact is that the Plan for Effective Learning Communities was geared at closing Plum and building a new school in the Magnolia area. 
The fiscal reality gets in the way.  A new elementary school would cost between 15 and 20... ]]></description>

would make the school committee&#39;s heads explode if you try that one. Not a bad idea though and would keep the kids out of the O&#39;Maley crime training
ground program that it is. Don&#39;t have the figures in hand or electronically but I heard the superintendent and others mention it at a recent channel 12
viewing. Perhaps they have... ]]></description>

Mya - the building of new facilities is a completely different funding source than what is affected by Prop 2 1/2.  Half comes from the state (drawing from the

aware of the difference and in fact modulars are far superior classrooms to any of the existing falling apart ones. This is clearly the only alternative short

scrounge kids from all over the city to fill the classes. What is the school committee smoking with the idea of spending probably $1M on that school when in 5
years it will have to be shut down?? From what I hear most families in that area have already bailed out to Rockport/Essex or St. Anns. ]]></description>
