Try clicking on the RealPlayer icon in the controls section of the player on the National Geo page and choose Play in RealPlayer. This should open RealPlayer on your computer, independent of the browser, and stream the cam. If you click on View and choose On Top While Playing, you can put the player in a corner of your screen and it will stay on top of whatever windows you have open on your 'puter.

Idea for wildlife webcam: train a web camera on a small section of St. Peter's Square where people and animals could be spontaneous, do a rap, do a monologue, sing a tune, dance a jig, whatever.

No probs here, XP Pro. No osprey cam, though. I bet the Windows Media .wmv stream is disabled but Quicktime is still going.

The National Geographic cam requires RealPlayer. How does that one work for you?

Installed RealPlayer from scratch. Did not see any warning about network access. Did not help with access to cam. Went to Conn. Audubon website...says nothing about cam being disabled. Aaaaaaaaaaaargh!

What network? If you have an adequate firewall, only those in your LAN should have access. Is that a problem?

LWN, it was the RealPlayer plug-in download that ended with the warning that others in the network would have access to my computer.

I'm still trying to get the osprey cam working. We both have Vista and you are able to view it, but I can't get it.

Have no problem viewing videos on these websites - connecting (or not) to the cams is the issue.

Same problem here, R. I even followed the prompt on the National Geographic cam to hook up Firefox, but ended with a warning that it would allow others in the "network" to have access to my computer.

Can connect to africam but NOT to Nationalal Geographic. Hate Microsoft...it's ruling my life these days...
