Seriously, LWN, if these neighbors are a perpetual nuisance, paint one side of your home flourescent pink with federal safety yellow circles. When I can find the photo and be able to post it here, I will. One of my old neighbors parked a rusty Ford Fairmont next to his nemesis and popped the hood. Left it like that for years. Neighbor wars can get nasty, just be prepared for one-upmanship.

I know a Gloucester resident who has complained about an illegal car repair shop in a residentially-zoned neighborhood that also burns wood to heat the place, thereby smoking out my friend on a regular basis. He has called and visited the Building Department, to no avail. Enforcement appears to be lacking, which may be partly caused by staff reductions and reduced city services lately.

Just about everyone here would know who the trailer-trash neighbor is if I divulged his name. You would also know who the trash-heap neighbor is. I have a third neighbor, one of the good ones, who you would all know. The fourth one, also a good neighbor, I don't think anyone would know.

One is a well-know local mentally-ill psychotic whackjob, one a former city official, and one is active in local public affairs.

lwn, glad you have some decent neighbors. I have mostly great neighbors, but the terrible ones are the "proud" owners of two cesspools of filth. I don't know what it takes to get a house condemned, but they sure must be close...I especially like the parade of scum that goes in and out everyday, I wonder what they are coming to purchase? It's not like the cops don't know, they are there biweekly for domestic issues.

Sounds like the property next to the West Parish School is in violation of the following ordinance. Enforcement requires a call to the Building Inspector.

You could also give it to your ward councillor to handle...

HA, some of those caddies have been there since I went to West Parish. Have you seen the dump next a few doors down from Ravenswood Park, yeah the homeonwers are great people, but the place is a disgusting dump pit that should get a visit from a wrecking ball.

Does anyone here know if Gloucester has an ordinances regarding where a property owner can place a trash pile? I'm talking about yard waste, construction rubble (leftover stone, concrete, etc.) and the like.
