I appreciate the kind words. Thanks to all the folks that wrote nice things, but enough about me.

I like the sharing of information and civil debate that we mostly have here.

So lets focus on making a positive difference if we have the time.

Joe. You have made your family proud. Allowed your dad an early retirement and have nothing to defend. You have done it the right way. With your education...you could have been far far from here. But we are so glad you are here.

Maybe you should apply for "services"...then you would have all the support you need from this opinionated board.

Yikes, hope I don't sound like her but I had to call that one as I saw it!

I'm pissed about her dissing Joe, he does nothing but add positive contributions to this board and our community and that still isn't good enough for some.

Not that I need to defend Joe,nor does he need to defend himself for being a buisness man or living in Hamilton, but from my view Joe is a true Gloucesterman. Proud of his heritage and Gloucester's as well. Always concerned for Gloucester's well being and an advocate of one of our greatest asset....the harbor. This city needs more "Joe's" and less "village idiots"!

I'm with GHS. What freaking difference does it make if Capt Joe inherited the business, bought it, found it, etc.? Point is he still works damn hard to keep it going and volunteers his time for local stuff - which is more than some of us (including me) do.

We made the lobster company happen, it wasn't inherited and neither was the property. Capt. Joe

Capt. Joe, you can say that until you are blue, but in this city if you are successful there are many that are not happy for you, as you can see from this message board. How many times do you have to say that you have a mortgage and still get accused of inheriting things? Don't even bother explaining it since it is no ones business. It just makes me wonder why it bothers people...

Back to the real issue, I agree with both CaptJoe and Damon. There certainly can be creative solutions which reflect a balance between the needs to preserve history and green space and the economic realities which have to be addressed.

I've often thought the Canadians have it right with the notion of dedicating certain tax revenues to specific...

Park and company are using all new finance features to build a strip mall that will ultimately fail. And you call it progress. Keep with the inherited lobster business and undying family help.
