It would also be helpful if the locat veterinarians posted a sign in their offices explaining where, when and how much. After all, all dogs are suppose to updated with their rabies shots before being licensed.

The census form, that's a good idea too.

Hit as many places as possible since all dog owners may not get RE bills, they may rent, excise tax bills, or the newspaper, and they may not own a car or subscribe to the GDT.

There's got to be a less expensive measure than postcards and time taken up by staff phone calls....

Tossing an idea around....

I don't like the idea of sending out separate reminder postcards for dog registrations. Can't we print reminder messages on real estate bills, excise tax bills and take an ad in the newspaper? With postage and paper costs constantly rising it doesn't seem cost effective to have a separate mailing.

Maggie-Self serving and pathetic??? Pathetic that this city can't send out the additional 3600 postcards because it claims it can't afford to do so, when it would cost approximately $2,000.00 and stands to re-cover or collect an estimated $81,000.00. Self-serving-NO, just a suggestion to see how easily you can get someone to do the job. I think it's a pretty smart idea. Look how quickly someone else was willing to do it and accept a low fee.

Magie, I have a better idea!! Why dont the City down size and terminate some of the high paying chiefs and assistants for assistants, and let the unemployed Indians work for 10 dollars an hour and we would see a blockbusting savings on the City (our budget) - We all know its usually the unknowledged ones that 99 percent of the work anyway......

Sprinkle, I think your idea is a good one. Maybe you could propose it to the city council or the mayor. With nothing to lose and much to gain, the city should seriously consider it.

Just trying to make sense of this. Dog licenses are due. Pay $22.50 by April 30, 2008 or you will be charged a late fee thereafter. The city cannot afford to send out postcards to all residents who own dogs so they send out cards to all owners who own mutiples (more than 1), which comes to approximately 400 residents. Now, remember, the city cannot afford to send out cards to the other 3600 residents who also have dogs. So, let's assume for a minute that ALL 400 residents receiving...
