I am a new comer to the board, so I don't know how to attach the article, but did anyone read the GDT today? Why no facts about how the stands were run
the last time the schools had them? Tobey said they were successful, but the Wingaersheek lessee says otherwise. Anyone remember why the schools stopped
running them? Thanks.

The Schools stopped running them because they COULDN'T run them!
School gets out at the end of June. The beach opens on Memorial Day weekend. School starts now at the end of August. The beach remains open at least to Labor Day and sometimes longer. There was no accounting and food was given away every day. The people working there then had no incentive to build a better mouse trap or make certain target goals and my guess is that the same will be true. Now, if you say that the people working there will get a bonus if the whole concession brings in more than x $ in the season, then I'd feel slightly better about it. The School Department was thrilled to give it up last time for a reason. |

I'm sure the other city departments will be thrilled to see the school department run the concessions to the betterment of their budget instead of into the
general fund where all benefit !

Maybe the DPW could run the concessions. They have an idle hot box to cook the hamburgers in.Better yet, the fire department could run it. At least the Good
Harbor location would get East Gloucester some fire coverage.
