I called the times twice asking for a correction to be put in the paper as I don't want anyone thinking that this thief lives with my son. My first call to the editor got a "oh its the address the court gave us" and I'll look into it for you. several days went by and I called again asking for a simple correction and the editor gave me a song and dance and still no correction. Has anyone else noticed but our local daily newspaper doesn't care if it has its facts straight. the local sports page some days doesn,t have one local story in it. Even with all spring sports starting there is nothing. They just don't give a fuck. I will be cancelling my subscribtion today. I get more news out of the Beacon in its one day of publication than I do the times.. HEY NEW EDITOR YOU SUCK

The new owners have a "new & improved" police and court notes with narratives that never used to be in there because they know Rockporters only get the Times for the court/police notes. It's the only thing that sells papers there, unless Biff or Muffy gets in one of the photographs.

If the guy gave the cops a wrong address, that's what the paper got. BUT, having said that, they CAN (and often have) run a correction that says something along the lines of "The person who lives at such-and-such an address says that so-and-so doesn't live there (or, no longer lives there, if he ever did)." One thing I have noticed about the paper lately, though, is that all of a sudden the obituaries have been on the back page of the first section, where they SHOULD be. Nobody should have to go looking for such information, which has been so hidden lately that it can often be overlooked or missed entirely. I hope the new trend continues.

The Beacon, too, has done a great job covering that issue. I've been wondering how one of my old legal Rpt.friends, would vote on it, next Sat. April 5, or how others will vote on it, also. As zoning and local govt. goes, it doesn't get much more complicated, re: town character.

If you had a lick of thought or courtesy for your fellow friends and neighbors, you'd realize that the average elderly person EXPECTS things to be in a certain place in their hometown newspaper. For a zillion years, the obituaries were on the back page of the A (front) section. They had priority unless the page was filled with ads, then, and only then, did the obituaries go to the record page. A lot of my elderly clients have actually missed obituraries for long-time friends, or old high school friends, etc., because they weren't where they expected them to be. It didn't occur to them that the obituaries might be buried inside the back page of the C section!! Why would they be? They had never been there before. The fact is, EVERYONE reads the obituaries. Very few have an interest in every story that begins on the front page. But, if they do, they will follow the conclusion of said story to whatever part of the paper they're directed to by the "jump line." It's simple logic, but then you wouldn't know anything about that, either.

This is a small hometown newspaper. Why the heck can't things just be in the same general area. Today has the comics on page 5 before the eds and the sports pages are just classifieds. I mostly us the online paper anyway but my neighbor sits in his window and waits all day for the "NEVER at the same time" Paper kid. WER....never have you had a truer statement. Very elitist group trying to cram something down the throats of the citizens of Rockport. Spot zoning is illegal and when you deconstruct this venture you will see that it is nothing but spot zoning to avoid a law suit.
