------------------------------ Word from where, your deranged mind? It won't happen, just like most of your BS predictions. |

I would not be surprised at all. They have no fire department over there most of the time and they have had some serious fires. I am sure they contemplate
doing something.

It is a good idea, but it will never happen. Magnolia is a bedroom community. Who will volunteer?? Who will put in the countless hours needed to train to
become a volunteer fireman? Very few if any at all. They tried it many years ago, thinking if they volunteered the city would give them all boots and raincoats
and the keys to the trucks. Not gonna happen. Those boots and raincoats are very, very expensive, and the training is long and arduous. Background checks,
physicals, training, liability insurance, etc. Its never going to happen.

If modeled after Essex, might work. Not enough fire-fighter types in Magnolia to make it work.

Still, if I were the gambling type, I'd put my money on Mya's prediction.

Let's have a muster and roll out the goods on a grand scale!

I'd take that bet in a heartbeat. You couldn't order enough fire gear to staff it with volunteers by July. I bet it would take 2 to 3 years to get a
volunteer department up and running. Certainly won't happen in 2 to 3 months. And the city doesn't have the funds for the initial investment it would
take to get the volunteers trained and equipped.

What are they going to do piss on the fire?

The public need is greater than the objections, orchestrated by he "no-can-dos,." some resting comfortably in warmer climates, sshouting
"Fore!" There are other ways to skin the cat, than those being discussed here, if the Magnolia residents strike hardy. Terrible to see someone die on
the floor of a local restaurant there, partly because it took so long to bring help to Magnolia, from center city, or nearer services like Manchester.
The naysayers can't just exempt the taxpayers and residents from fire, emergency and rescue services, because they don't like the terms. THAT IS NOT THE WAY DEMOCRACY WORKS. If that is the prevailing attitude, expect to spend several decades in court, AND LOSE, with your heirs, assigns, and dependants footing the bill. You might just as well try not to provide schools, water, and sewer, roads, or anything else. Check out the US and MA Constitutions before further blather. |

Oakarina, first of all, Manchester is certainly not nearer to Magnolia than Gloucester. It takes a helluva lot longer for Manchester Fire to get out to that
area than it does Gloucester Fire. Then again, why would Manchester cover that area for us? Don't you think they'd tell us to take care of our own
problems with our own tax dollars? They're already taking a huge chunk of our school money by educating our kids through school choice. The problem with
this city is that we have no plans in place to deal with the myriad of crisises we face. If we want to establish a volunteer department in Magnolia (IMO East
Gloucester needs one much worse) then we need to sit down and plan for it. But its going to take time, energy and money, and not the endless blathering of
threatened legal actions and assorted blather that spews from you.
