That big gorgeous magnolia at Tally's corner is in full, glorious bloom and the one in front of Cape Ann Savings Bank is nearly all in bloom too. The star magnolias are almost by already. Forsythia everywhere! I love this time of year --- except I have to keep popping the loratadine!!! Somebody (somebodies) were obviously very busy last fall when they planted lots of daffodil bulbs in the four corners of the lot. Thank you who ever you are. Developers hate them 'cause they signal wetlands. They're all along the Rte 128 extension, between Exits, 9 and 10. both sides of the hiway. And also behind homes along Bass Ave. I don't know the botanical name. They seem to flourish best in a mixture of salt and fresh water. In yards, they're the devil to get rid of, smothering all else, with long root structures, and their wavy tops constantly sending off new growth I don't see them on Cape Cod for some reason, even along tidal marshes, although other plants grow, in those brackish waters. Hopefully a concom member or staffer can tell us the botanical name.
