Question for the board masses |

So, aside from our political differences, how many of you think we have more in common than not?
Do you think we'd like each other outside this board? If so, why? |

It's not that difficult to be civil to folks even if they have widely opposing political views.
Some people just can't seem to get past that though. |

We are wildly divergent on viewpoints, but it seems like most of us have a GREAT sense of humor and that would be the
thing that would connect us all very nicely, I think.....
Somebody knock me out and wake me up in time for the first frost, please.

We like to type and read.
1/2 and 1/2 - liking/not liking outside the board. You can tell a lot about a person by picking up on attitudes, reactions, and reading between the lines... Don't walk in front of me, I don't follow. Don't walk behind
me, I don't lead.

I get along with 99% of the people I meet. Very easy going but curious. We all do a different gig online, methinks.
Interpreting the written word is also a very different experience online. |

The binding force is the board. A place to play, a place to make new friends.
Face to face is different then behind a key board that shows no emotion , nor eyes to look in. Lots of mistaking identities. The few I met this week were close to what I expected and more. Posting without judgement goes a long way I think if ya ever think of meeting the folk on the other end of cyberspace. Most , would be surprised when the "Members of the board come together" We---all who come here for a little companionship , Don't make me think, it hurts.

Do you think we'd like each other outside this board?why chance it...we've watched things go south by people "meeting up" in the past..
I'd rather laugh with
the sinners than cry with the saints
The sinners are much more fun... |

"Interpreting the written word is also a very different experience online." - brainfix
Looking for clarification - do you mean vs. interpreting the verbal word vis-à-vis? Don't walk in front of me, I don't follow. Don't walk behind
me, I don't lead.

No, Realist, words seem more fluid online and open to further interpretation.

Agreed. I consider myself a fairly good orator but apparently when I post, I can be misunderstood. And it is frustrating.
I would also venture guess that a good many here are "A" dogs which can be difficult in a social setting. I know I would love Damon, Capt. Joe, and Gang of One (and we have very different opinions). Brain...also...I like the wit. Aside from Save Cape Ann, Joe, and Damon, and JG...I actually have no clue who any of you are. I sometimes think I do and then they write something that does not jive. |

Yes, I think we would have a lot in common. I also think that posting on the board just like e-mail is sometime (lots of times) misinterpreted
because of the aforementioned reasons. I am guilty as charged on both the giving and receiving end.

Fully agree with you here, MS. "No, Realist, words seem more fluid online and open to further interpretation. " - brainfix Or further misinterpretation and/or misunderstanding. Don't agree with you on this one, B. Don't walk in front of me, I don't follow. Don't walk behind
me, I don't lead.

I guess it depends on your need to feel in control of certain things.
Couldn't care less about holding up any banners anymore. |

Simply a wish to understand and thus avoid misinterpretation which has the potential to lead to all sorts of unneeded garbage. Plain and simple. Nothing to do
with waving banners...
Don't walk in front of me, I don't follow. Don't walk behind
me, I don't lead.

We can't handle the truth. |

I have watched Republicans and conservatives of various other stripes slowly destroy this country (well, rapidly in the past decade) and commit treasonous acts
in the name of patriotism.
So, no, I have no interest in giving anyone evil or stupid enough to support the Repiglicans (or any conservatives) anything other than the scorn they so richly deserve. To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.-Theodore Roosevelt, The Kansas City Star, May 7, 1918 |
