Spudass, I thought I was the best rail man on that boat.
I must have
missed the Portland trip with dogfish swimming in the pool. What a hoot. The trip Wolfe got the hook in his eye was the last straw for me with Roger. Damm near
fainted when I saw that the entire hook had disappeared behind Wolfes eye with only the knot and gangion showing. I cut the gangion off and bandaged both eyes.
Rough as a bastard. Too rough for a helo to take him off. I had a battle with Roger right then. I wanted to head in but Roger insisted on hauling all the gear
first. I ran the rail full speed with no stopping for anything. After the gear was in Roger told us he was heading for Boston to go to Mass Eye and Ear. I
don't remember where we were working. Anyway I sat down below with Wolfe trying to keep stuff from flying off a shelf and hitting him in the eye as we
pounded home. When the boat slowed I came up expecting to see Boston Harbor but almost flipped out when I saw Eastern Point. Roger had steamed right past Boston to take out fish in Gloucester. I took Wolfe
to the Addison Gilbert where of course they weren't expecting him. Mass Eye and Ear was pissed too because they were expecting Wolfe and had an eye surgeon
on standby. The good news is the AGH took the hook out with no damage to the eye at all. I would have bet anything the eye was ruined. I went back to the boat
got my gear and Wolfes and walked off the boat. Too many people getting hurt there. A few months earlier I had to push a hook thru the palm of my brother
George so I could remove it after he got snagged . Haven't talked to Flaky Baky since I walked off the boat.

Who was the guy Flakey Bakey tied up one trip.I quess the guy had some problems and the story is the captain tied him up to keep order on board until the boat
got in from fishing.
Roger was a very good fisherman,I quess he just wasn't good enough at the business end to keep things running. |
