ZAP! Everyone else beats around the bush, present company included, attempting to be gracious, to give every benefit of the doubt, and all the rest of that hot
air. Outcome? Zero.

Doug told me she flat out refused to give him the names or contact information of anybody that she had done consulting work for at those big Fortune 500
companies that she so readily dropped the names of during her campaign. Again, if she had a proven track record, she should have been proud to prove it.
i don't know about fortune 500 companies, but she did manage everything leading up to the rockport national bank's ribbon cutting ceremony. |

You people are bozos on one hand you slam the paper as a fishwrapper on the other hand it is the litmus test for your reality - which is it?
Watch our mayor work. Watch her decision making process and come up with your own opinions. So far so good. She is clearly an intelligent competent woman with knowledge of the world beyond Gloucester. She is also a graduate of BC which certainly makes her more qualified than a guy who inherited a sub shop and is an avid golfer. Stop slamming and start paying attention. |

OG spent the campaign slamming JD with nothing beyond innuendo, and is now doing exactly the same to CK.
Boring, boring, boring. |

Y, you stated that she had a proven track record as a successful consultant for several Fortune 500 companies. I just pointed out the fact that she never
proved that she had a proven track record, or if fact if it was a successful one. The question begs to be answered though; why would she not give Doug Moser
the names and numbers of people to call where she did consulting so he could get an idea of what kind of work she did and what her job performance was? The
fact of the matter is I am giving her the benefit of the doubt on the legal department fumble. But she was also heavily involved in the fiasco called "The
Plan for Effective Learning Communities" as a school committee member and she has vowed to stand by that plan, in spite of the fact that it appears that
it will cost the city significantly more money than the school committee estimated, and from what I've heard from every staff member I've talked to
they expect MCA's scores to plummet. They expect one of our elementary schools to go from top scores in the state to near bottom. Not very efficient or
effective for that matter. Thats why your seeing parents getting together to talk about charter schools.

i'm not slamming carolyn, i was complimenting her for her work on the rockport national bank, and then, in response to Y's praise of the mayor's
early decision making, which is being questioned by everyone because it is.....questionable. considering the choices, i would vote for her again.

I just pointed out the fact that she never proved that she had a proven track record, or if fact if it was a successful oneWell, she must be a magician then by pulling the wool over the eyes of an entire community - NOT! She was a consultant. She was contracted by Fortune 500 companies and she was paid in turn. That in itself represents a successful track record. If she were not good at what she did she would have not been hired again and thus be the failure you would like her to be. I hear alot of bellyaching from your posts but no real data. She must have done something right on the SC because she was able to parlay her experience into a successful run for the Mayors office. You are a neysayer who would like to sit on the sidelines and pass your ignorant judgment on others. I am sorry. I do not have the time or inclination to sway your opinion as you can always find fault in this imperfect world. Have a nice day! |

"Well, she must be a magician then by pulling the wool over the eyes of an entire community "
No, John Houdini Bell was the real magician. Remember his first slogan, Re-Defining the Job? The idea was that he was going to apply what he learned in the private sector running successful businesses to municipal government. |

Again, if she was such a successful consultant for Fortune 500 companies with a degree from B.C., she'd be earning a helluva lot more money in the private
sector than she is as Mayor of Gloucester. What the hell kind of consulting did she do for them that qualifies her to be Mayor? Can you answer that? No!
Because she never said exactly who she consulted for, or what kind of consulting she did. I do think she pulled the wool over our eyes. However I still think
she was the better of the 2 choices. We'll just have to wait and see. I'm hoping for the best and I am far from a naysayer. I voted for her and support
her.
