I've always like Alchemy, my only complaint was that the place was always over run by house flies.... And yes, I mentioned it to the owner. Hope that issue
is solved and I look forward to going for dinner and of course, drinks. Does anyone know if they expanded their hours? I hated that they closed so early as did
their sister restaurant, Cala's in Manchester.

ANY restaurant that has flies in it is immediately off my list for evermore!
Those nasty, filthy little buggers could land on a pile of poop outside the restaurant and then come in and land on your main course! Yuk, yuk, and more yuk!!!! |

That somewhat limits where you can eat on Cape Ann in the summertime. Many restaurants offer outdoor/patio dining, making it kind of tough to keep flies away
both outside and in with waitstaff moving back and forth.

OK, I did hear they were related somehow.

I HATE flies, and the only place that I've ever encountered them is at the Clam Box in Ipswich. I haven't been back since, and that was at least seven
years ago.
If there are flies inside the building, I'm outta there. Outside, yeah, you expect it, which is why I don't sit outside.

Where is Zoe's, global?
An abundance of flies means they are breeding somewhere on premises or nearby. There is no excuse for that. |

Just returned from Alchemy: really nice. Great, personable bartender, less crowed than Lat 43, excellent seafood risotto, could not be better: really good,
really attractive, really good.

Just a little Zappa takeoff to add to the mix. |

Such critters contain more protein than beef.
The Chinese, Thais and Filipinos eat insects for protein and sustenance. |

Those flies are probably safer than our gropings.

Sorry to get the thread back on track... But, Went to Alchemy last night and was very disapointed. The place looks great and was buzzing with activity, we got
service with a smile, and that wraps up the good parts. The menu is the same, and supposedly the prices are the same. However the portions seemed to have
shrunk dramatically, the flavor was weak and they got the order wrong, twice.
Wound up paying almost $100 for modest meals including a very weak $20 salad. I haven't felt so ripped off at dinner in years and I'm typically not a complainer when it comes to restaurants and service. Won't be hurrying back. |

Went to Alchemy last night too and had pretty much the same experience. Overall atmosphere and the waitstaff, lovely. Service, bright and perky. That was it.
Was to expensive for what you receive. I'm not sure I've ever paid $10 for a mixed drink before, and surely won't do so again at Alchemy. What a
shame, I hope that they can "tighten up" the ship a bit.

Just one more reason for you NEVER to leave the house, OK? And didn't you know flies LOVE to settle on computer keyboards? -- GOOVery true, GOO ... and Lord knows one of those evil little critters could have been to your house and landed on that steaming pile of nastiness that sits at YOUR computer, bringing Heaven knows what to my keyboard!!! I'm thinking I'll have to purchase some "GOO-Gone" ...
Any deranged fly who ventures past my screens doesn't live long ... I just love the chase and the ensuing SPLAT!!!

'Nastiness"?! Why, Goody Dimples...what rancour bursts forth from yon parched and pursed lips.
A pox on you for your violence and picking on god's wee creatures. Lanesville flies are too smart to try to go as far as E. Gloucester - they'd have to fly through Rockport and, well...we all know who lives there, and the stench of indignation might be too much to resist! |

Well, GOO, your "Lanesville flies" can't be too smart if they think I live in "E. Gloucester!"
