Did the school committee generate a list enumerating the specific line items with attached dollar costs and backup documentation? Also, a list of those items
that could be covered by grants and/or contracts (state or otherwise)? $1M is a huge chunk of change. Interested to see how much of $1M would be allocated to
fund Special Ed.
Got the facts, crak? |

At the close of public comment, Healey and Verga both said that while it may be a stance that is politically incorrect, they would both support an override in
the future.
"In reality, we're paying less in taxes and expecting more from our cities and our schools," Healey said. "It's time for us to take control and try to bring more money into the city, even if it comes out of our own pocket." |

that's 2 different vergas ya know. NO OVERRIDE especially for the schools. those nitwits still don't seem to know how to manage what they have. they
keep switching decisions and can not seem to agree on what they want to do and where they want to go. the last thing we should give them is more $$ until they
show they can actually manage what they have now.
"All of this could be yours... just give me what I want and nobody gets hurt"

An over ride is just plain not going to happen. Forget it.
The school administration has not put on a very impressive show for the last year or so with the fouled up calculations for school expansions and the confusion about who goes to what school if it is or not closed or maybe the other one or whatever. They are the last people who are likely to succeed in asking the voters for more money. Damon |

If it is a general overide I would not even consider it. There will be 3 unions fighting for that money, who knows if it would even get to the schools.

Where are the modulars? Are they going to be usable without the bathrooms and hallways? How were they even bought without the money to pay for them? An
override? Are you kidding me? What is the solution to this major blunder? I can't wait to read about this in the "100 day report"

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ...... for those of us with kids! Spare us your fake predictions and your fake promises for better days. No override is going to happen. PIPE
DREAMS. I am going to do everything in my power to get my kids into ANYWHERE ELSE.
I am sick of trying to suck it up. We SUCK. And I emailed the mayor thtee months ago about the "on sale" modulars up in Maine that were available immediately but no response... My kids get accepted somewhere else. Good for me! If they don't.....please count me out for providing so much as a donut hole. Seriously! DONE WITH THIS SHIT HOLE OF A CITY! |

How much friggin' money does this city spend on sports? From the t-ball age and up. Hockey gear for a 3 year old on through HS but money for schools -
"are you shitting me" - is the response. Well, dumbasses, you get what you pay for. Keep throwing your money away on a pipe dream because chances are
Junior ain't making the big leagues. However, odds mean nothing to you Glostaites - $24 million in lottery tickets speaks to the IQ of this city. Shit
it's almost as much as the entire school budget but you never learned mathematical odds so I'm pissing up a tree here.

Y, you surely know how I feel when it comes to youth athletics. They are, im my opinion, a vital part of any young person's life. They teach lifeskills
(teamwork, cooperation, practice, loyalty, and commitment) that cannot be taught in the classroom and which are just as important. What's more of a
pipedream: playing major league baseball or becoming a biology or chemistry professor? The point is that kids should have access to both. Both are vitally
important parts of a child's development and education. If someone doesn't want to play sports, that's fine and it is their choice. But to render
them useless because they won't become the object of one's profession is not looking broadly enough. The same argument could easily be applied to
things learned in school. What do I need chemistry for, in reality? I'm not going to work in the sciences, but I learned things in that class which are
useful to me.
Both academics and athletics (as well as other extracurricular activities) should be provided and funded as a part of the public education system. Whether that takes an override or some other source is a question for the public to decide.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------- Since you asked, it's playing major league baseball. |

What's more of a pipedream: playing major league baseball or becoming a biology or chemistry professor?Wow! That speaks volumes. BTW - I did not render them useless. I love sports and believe everyone should play and learn them. They do teach important skills and are good fun and exercise. The point I was making is the average Glosta citizen has no problem parting with $300 for sports gear but an override which amounts to $50 for the year is TABOO. Grow up and get some real priorities. |

Fair point, I don't think I picked up on the whole of your sarcasm through the text. The point about the mlb vs prof thing was that both are highly
unlikely, but that those subjects should still be experienced regardless.
