It was a rhetorical/incredulous question...being a little over 22, I knew the answer (without looking it up!)

Getting used to grey boxes. Going south to unwind.

Yuppie-I'm going to go drive my ferrari to the seafood place for a $500 lobster.
Average person-I'm gonna fuck your wife, take your time with the lobster. |

Ambiance can make or break a place. While I agree with this statement in theory, I wonder if actual location and previous establishments make or break a place. Busy Bee, Rigger, then JJ - same clientele, same problems. Years ago a friend was being talked to by an owner in and of 'The Rendezvous' about his drunken behaviour. He replied 'What's the problem, this place is just 'Mally's' with a rug'. |

I haven't thought about the Rendezvous in years. I used to go there with a boyfriend who loved to dance. We would go there towards the end of the evening,
get all sweaty dancing up a storm and go home all worked up. That was probably in 1983 or 1984. We couldn't get punk in Gloucester so we went to the disco.
What a scream.

There weren't a lot of places to dance in good old Gloucester, but the Rondevous was one of them (along with Cameron's and Bob's). The atmosphere
was sufficiently "divish" enough to let you give up your inhibitions (even alcohol free) and have a blast!
There's just about no place you can dance now, with the exception of Cameron's on occasion when they have a decent band and a crowd that's older than 21.

We just continue to cut of the nose to spite the face. A classy, well run, beautiful establishment and they just continue to shit on them.

Personally, I love outdoor dining/entertainment/lounge settings .... but I also get the need to control outdoor noise
... it is noise to a lot of people. At the very least, I think they should have been given some kind of trial period.
Capt. Carlo's is sinking some bucks into doing something .... I'm not sure what, to contain the sound.

They(lat43) are being given a trial period to show movies outside for a month and were granted a license for indoor entertainment.

I wish Lat 43 would get what they do now right and forget adding new stuff. Went the other night, sat at the bar. One side of the bar is ontop of the kitchen
with no door. Did not want to listen to off color kitchen talk and moved to the other side of the bar. After the 3rd pool cue was poked into my side, we tried
a table. The food came, cold. They really need to work on the basics. However Lobsta Land is open, so no need to go to Lat again.
