Does anyone know what the huge building is at the crest of the hill on the right going up Mt. Vernon? I'm sure it was either a school or municipal
building. It has a black chain link fence around it? Also on the left, almost directly across the street is an older building much like an old school house.
Does anyone have any info? I just drove by after dropping off a friend of my daughter's and remarked that I could probably find the answer right here.

Hmmmm. Did they get all the proper parking space requirements satisfied before building like the Lanesville church needs?

That was the neighborhood elementary school. It was sold to the church ages ago and they hold their religious ed. classes there.

If The Lanesville church wants more room to play basketball - they should rent out the Y for a couple of hours every Sunday. Better parking, more respect for
their neighbours, more supportive of the Cape Ann community at large. (And more potential for proselytizing and being the feeder for fire'n'brimstone
Gordon College - a big part of their raison d'etre.)

Another Random Building Question | ||
|
On Mt. Pleasant Street, there's a huge building, ground floor looks like a very swanky garage, complete with slick antique cars inside. It looks as if it
might be a private residence, but on my walk yesterday I saw the doors were wide open and not a human being to be seen. Didn't seem the smartest setup in
the world. But, oooh bah, is it pretty.
Anyone know? |

Thanks! I hope he has a good security system. If I noticed the doors were open (I'm not the most observant of animals) I'm sure others would too. Now
that it's "out for a walk" season, there's bound to be curious creatures afoot.

I think it was 1957, they marched the whole school from Mt Vernon street to the new Ward 2 School on Webster Street.

Kalesy, that place is owned by a financial software wiz, one of the richest guys in Gloucester.

There is a very tight security system there. He was probably inside working on his cars. He is a great guy and he has lent his garage to non-profits for their
fund raisers as well as offering his vehicles for auction items. He was also a huge benefactor of St. Mel's school.

Speaking of St. Mel's, what is up with their landscaping? The grounds look like hell.

is it safe to identify large open garages in an area that has been hit pretty hard with car break-ins. duh.

That was a one-night junkie run from the sound of it in the paper, elli. Besides, there wouldn't be any wallets, loose change, GPS's or much other
stealable stuff in an antique car garage.
