I took this photo last weekend in the woods. There was a whole patch of these. I hope I see flowers on them later in the season.

Lily of the Valley? Or maybe Clintonia?
To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.-Theodore Roosevelt, The Kansas City Star, May 7, 1918 |

Hm, these look so familiar, I keep thinking a purple flower...not sure of the name though....gotta think about it for a few, another cup of coffee may help.
Lily of the Valley generally has smooth leaves, but are the same shape/color/size of the leaves in the photo, but the leaves in this image seem to be stripped, rather than smooth. |

They look like some sort of perennial, but they were in the middle of nowhere. It was really interesting to come upon, and it will be more interesting to see
what they develop into. My sister thought maybe Lady Slipper or Morning Glory, or some kind of Lily.

I saw a bunch of them in Ravenswood last week. I wondered the same thing. Definitely a perennial though.

I believe that is called American White Hellbore. See any mushrooms in your travels, the edible kind?

Doesn't at all look like a Morning Glory leaf to me nor Lily of the Valley. It's hard to see the relative size in the photo, but the habit looks like
Skunk Cabbage though the leaves would be less pointed I think. It really looks like a Hosta variety to me, but it's too early for that. Take a leaf to a
plant person. What ever it is, it looks like it's spreading pretty well via root system.

The leaves are quite similar to lily-of-the-valley, although they seem a bit too close together on the growing axis:
That's why I suggested Clintonia:

On the side - I have scads of Lilies of the Valley and they are about 1/2" to 1" at this point - just starting their journey.
Don't walk in front of me, I don't follow. Don't walk behind
me, I don't lead.
