I know - that's nothing, but I'm not THAT much of a newbie. My rockport comment was a blast at the snobbery inherent in many of them...and meant with humor. I don't have low expectations, but I am a pragmatist and I have traveled far and lived in MANY different places.....NONE of which have stayed suspended in aspic as if cut off from the rest of the world - which some people seem to want or expect about Gloucester. You don't know how good you have it here compared with so many other places - which is NOT a call to just sit back and take it, just a nudge towards less frantic NIMBY-style hand-wringing and keening.

BUT, I also see that what hasn't changed is the core surroundings that give this place potential like few other places have and THAT is what I focus on. Our city fathers' (and certain others) own "anti" everthing has led us to this point, and that can, and is, being changed. We reap what we sow, and what we have sown is stagnation. So, we sow seeds of growth and, hopefully. we will reap a Gloucester better than ever before.

This is exactly how it happens. We know there is a mandate. We know it is too expensive.
