Heh! Dickipedia... coo...
To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.-Theodore Roosevelt, The Kansas City Star, May 7, 1918 |

Dickipedia is a great idea, but it's utterly amazing that Rush Limbaugh didn't make it yet. One would think they would have started with him.

Anchortainment! I'm going to have to use that one.

Loved the "anchotainment", too, Annie.
The whole thing is very cleverly written I think. Glad some of you enjoy it, too. Always glad to contribute to hours we won't get back. Heh. I wondered about Rush, too. |

I *liked* Lou Dobbs when he was looking at the financial responsibility.
In fact, Dobbs was one of the first to criticize Bush and ride herd unmercifully about the growth of the Federal government (and budget) with no end in sight. Up until (relatively) recently, Dobbs' show was one where you could actually *hear* the guests, there was a sense of decorum (no shouting over one another--everyone's voice WILL be heard) and there was a *real* opposing view offered among the guests. In relatively recent times, he has evidently begun to go for ratings, allowing the definition of the debate to move from specifying illegal aliens to "illegal immigrants"--something which immediately creates the misconception that the argument is about ALL of those entering the country, not just those sneaking in illegally, tweaking emotions, not the leetle gray cells. Lou was always the guy who ran the phenomenal numbers of how many LEGAL immigrants we had working here for Corporate America annually, ridiculing the stance Bush&Co. keep taking about "jobs Americans won't take". He still is just as uncomplimentary about Bush--something which I like about him--but his convenient lapse of memory when it comes to WHICH party has sat in power BEHIND the throne since 1992 is just beyond me. You may have seen President Bill's face but it was Frist & Co. that called the shots. Dobbs has a bug up his ample behind about anything Democratic when, in fact, everything he's criticizing is all about the Republican Party! Well, he can't have it both ways--and, frankly, more of his original audience were the people that are dead set against any more of the Republican shennanigans and the rubber ride of Wall St. Maybe he's trying to hold the braying Wolf Blitzer's crowd to run against the Faux competition in his time slot? Whatever. He's lost me. |

Gotta agree with thinkin on this one...

While I used to think he was at least somewhat better than some others when it came to money issues, I always found him to be something of a pompous ass.
He's been by far not the only one who's been anti-Bush, but he does it with more selfrighteous indignation which I found amusing. But all in all, he
turned me off with his beating of dead horses with such drama and umbrage. He could be snotty at times, too.
I think he's basically losing his popularity and is a bit frantically trying to gain attention again. No thanks. |

Sorry, Ev--he had a lot more substance than you're giving him credit for.
As for the illegals, he has a lot more righteous indignation, since his wife and family are all legals (Mexican). |

Well, I guess your opinion and mine are just different on that substance thang. Makes the world go 'round.
Yes, I'm aware of his family situation and the understandable influence on his immigration views. Wasn't there a story about his wife (Debi---his second, the Mexican) having a little problem at Newark airport a few years back while trying to bring a loaded gun in?

While I used to think he was at least somewhat better than some others when it came to money issues, I always found him to be something of a pompous ass.
Across the board, the financial community lined up in the same column as Dobbs from before W was ordained president (as opposed to the mega-multi-national corporations who are in bed with our government). There *is* a difference and to write off a good decade is where you and I apparently have our differences. He did more to call attention to the b.s. that the Republican Party was spewing and he did it from a position that made it viable and allowed *more* people to hear the wake up call. Dobbs is the spokesman for that financial viewpoint as seen by a majority of TV viewers and, as I've said, since the focus and furor has come to rest on illegal aliens and border security (and the unspeakable events surrounding the treatment of the border guards v. the drug lord), his show has become hardly recognizable. I'd say that most people (here) who disagree with anything consider the most visible TV spokesperson to be a "pompous ass" and, for those short-time Dobbs' watchers, that would fit. If you've read, listened or watched him for longer than the last two years or so, you should be able to discern the change and at least give credit where due. That's where our "opinions" differ. |

thinkin, I guess you assumed (or in your vernacular which I love, ASSumed? LOL) that I haven't watched him for a long time which would be wrong. Maybe your
apparent confidence in the "financial communty" is another area where our opinions might be a little different. But whatever....in
the end, it's only your opinion and my opinion, two people in a sea of many opinions, and we happen to disagree on this one. So? Don't see any problem
with that. Sorry if you do.
I'm not sure what your source is for Dobbs being "the most visible TY spokesperson" or being "the spokesperson for that financial viewpoint as seen by a majority of TV viewers", but I'd be interested. IMO, his stance on immigration speaks to character in an undeniable way. At any rate, my original post was aimed at humor. |
