Dobbs is the spokesman for that financial viewpoint as seen by a majority of TV viewers

I don't need a "source" to make that statement, Evelyn; Dobbs is one of the top three CNN programs which knocks out any other economist's "show" in this country.

We were--I thought--commenting about Dobbs' show and where it has changed. I was giving credit for his awakening of the masses to the destruction that the Bush administration has wrought in so many arenas it boggles the mind--the outsourcing, offshoring, economic disasters, border security, immigration fiasco--where to begin? You seem to be focusing on the last year or so. I didn't disagree about the change--but for all the positive, I had to give credit where due.

To that end, I find the side comments about Dobbs' wife (ca. 2003) at the airport to be as much about his show as throwing in a kitchen sink to substantiate your "annoyance". How does *that* fit in?

Yes, this is his SECOND wife--but I have friends who have second marriages--some even on their *third*!-- Hispanic, Asian Anglo--and that doesn't seem to matter. In this case, their twins are somewhere around 20 years old, so it looks like it's a good partnership and longer than his first marriage. So what? I brought up Dobbs' family because many in the touchy-feely crowd have labelled him to be anti-Mexican. The hate mail, death threats, etc., that have taken on a life of their own is testimony to the problem *we*, the citizens in this country are facing from without--and from within with a government that is long-broken.

Like many other families of immigrants and first generation, I have no tolerance for those sneaking in in the dead of night. Period. The End. There are laws in this country that were designed to protect us--and there are a handful in power that are destroying it in closed door meetings, out of sight of the press and the public, ignoring *OUR* laws and putting us at unbelievable risk.

As to the poor and the downtrodden from Wherever: Get in line.

Our government should stop "partnering" with governments who work against their own citizens and exert whatever influence we have left--as I believe ALL RELIGIOUS LEADERS should--to make it impossible for those corrupt Central and South American countries' (e.g.) to continue making such a hellish existence that their citizens would rather risk death in a boat or a desert than stay and fight for their rights.

And unlike several people I know here, if someone works their ass off, is successful, and enjoys the fruits of his/her labors, I generally can find it in myself to feel pretty good for them--better still, if they give back to their community--rather than begrudge and find ways to belittle them.

As to Ms. Dobbs, the incident occurred around the same time as the death threats and hate mail was ratcheting up on account of her husband's bringing the Bush Administration to task on one of CNNs top three shows for our broken borders and any other number of issues we crank on about YET today. I guess I'm willing to hear from the jury on what was happening with Ms. Dobbs at some other point--but it doesn't change what my feeling was about her husband's cajones for speaking out against the Bush policies! (If anything, keeping in mind how the Bush administration acts towards our own citizens who criticize Bush makes me just a little more tolerant of anyone on the current White House's "list" ...)

And those who watch Dobbs realize he WAS a cotton-picker and that's what drove him to success. (One of his choices of expletives on television IS 'cotton-picking', as in "wait a cotton-picking minute" rather than using an adjective he might off-air. )

Of course, if you get all your information through a filter, you're not going to be aware of these things.
