OldHippie, THANKS that track, which I also love, is a great addition to the post!
To all the in denial old farts: remember you are as young as you feel! It sort of hits hard when you hear music, see movies or events and you say to yourself; no way, no how, it wasn't THAT many
years ago! I am not that old dammit!
Backshore, I hear you! (even though this is an Eagles post) Zeppelin made their big press release of a hot new band back in November of 1968! They were gone 12 years later. As is quoted by David Fricke, "The band is gone. The thrill is not." IMHO, no truer words were ever spoken. "Kashmir" is a fave of mine. What I would have given to see them in England this past year with Bonham's son playing the drums...all old and gray...or not! One of the few bands I never got to see that I wish I could have. Seeing Plant with Allison Krauss doesn't quite do it for me - though I like anything the man does.

I loved Zeppelin. The stuff DJs didn't beat into the Earth.

1stly, 'Take it Easy' was written by Jackson Browne, a national treasure to this day. check out his disc "Looking East" if you don't
believe it. But the true progenitors of the "Eagles Sound" was the band "Poco" who could in their day out-write, out-harmonize and just
plain out-play those LA Fakers, the Eagles. Check out Poco's "Deliverin'" or the recently released "The Last Roundup". Just my 2c
'cus I am the original RockDoc and you are all my children.
When in doubt, twirl.

Poco was my favorite. Another icon of the genre was The New Riders.

Poco and New Riders... two of the best...
I remember seeing Poco in concert once... Rusty Young was absolutely stunning on the pedal steel... I also remember taking some acid back in the day that made the entore world look like that watercolor on the cover of the debut New Rider's album... To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.-Theodore Roosevelt, The Kansas City Star, May 7, 1918 |

I love NRPS, especially the 1st 2 - 3 releases. "California Day" remains one of my favorite tunes of all time!
When in doubt, twirl.

In case you don't already know or have it already:
The "new" originally bootlegged release of NRPS Worcester, MA 4/4/73 has been released to the main market consumer. Among their classics, they did a cover of "Down In the Boondocks" that is tremendous!

Okay .... I fess up to a major sing-a-long to Desperado ... one of those things you only do when you're alone .... Oh, and I heart Jackson Browne ... |

I confess to doing the same with Ol '55. A great great song. I think I will look up the guitar tabs and UL it you tube once I get a good take. Of course
like most great "Eagles" songs, it was penned by someone else with the talent - in this case Tom Waits.
When in doubt, twirl.
