Sign sign everywhere a sign! |

I wonder..... Are there any restrictions on posting a sign on telephone poles? Jim's Drive-thru signs are posted on several poles along Prospect St. !

Yup.. Right next to the Yard Sale/Missing Pet signs.

Yes there is. I believe someone even posted the ordinance a few weeks ago. However, if you are a local like Capt Vito or Donut Jim the ordinance does not
apply. They are good people trying to do the good work and hey it's just fine. However, if either one of them were black or anti-cops they would get a
citation and the whole family would be harassed. The backroads of Alabama got nothing on Gloucester. Isn't that right Night?

Glad you brought this up Dun because while talking my daily walk yesterday I happen to notice signs put up by the city explaining when the street sweeper would
be coming by and the hours and days in which you were not allowed to park on even or odd sides of the street. The only problem was that they were dated back
in the 3rd week of April. So, the city can put them up, but they don't have anyone to take them down. I pulled the 2 off that I happen to walk by.

"How bout you right up all the rules and reg's you like and then screw the rest."
Yeah, I'll "right" those all up now. Goof ball. Worried about fucking telephone poles? I think we have some other pressing issues that take precedence. But, hey, we could spend time removing signs from poles. Petty at best. Priorities kids. |

I guess you're "write" and I'm human. Priorities would make sense if other shit was getting done but let's not fool ourselves. This city
enforces nothing but it's own political agenda.

I'm hueman too.
But if anyone thinks we should call/complain to the DPW and have them spend their time removing Jim's signs and yard sales signs from telephone poles, you are part of the problem and not part of the solution - it called being petty and losing focus. |

Hmmmm, I have to say I drive Prospect St every day and not once noticed those posters on the poles. But then again, I am looking at the road in front of me.
There is one simple solution though, if it is against the law then maybe the City Clerk, or maybe the police station should just make a phone call to Donut Jim's telling them to remove the signs or they will be fined. It's up to Donut Jim to remove the signs, certainly not the DPW. The city needs the revenue, if they start enforcing the ordinaces and issuing fines we could actually collect some money eh? JMO |

Excellent point FG. Fines fines everywhere a fine. Sure would clean up the city.

Actually I don't care but wondering who owns the poles? Would it be the telephone or electric company? And does the city have any say on what's put on
them? And if Donut Jim's is allowed to post them there are we about to see an explosion of signs from other buisnesses sprouting about?
|
|||

Well Dun the telephone company owns them and posting anything on them is illegal. This is another case of Donut Jim taking the cheap easy way out. Advertising
costs money and cuts into profit margin. So does buying a large enough piece of property that can actually meet the Drive-thru requirements but I digress. Did
you notice the lame saw horse on Washington St with one of his signs. I guess someone trashed it over the w/e. So go cheap and break the law. Great way to do
business. Next he'll be running for mayor.

What about the little signs posted along 133 and elsewhere advertising North Shore Junk Removal and such. I doubt they are legal.

...the telephone company owns them and posting anything on them is illegal. ~ ~ YY is correct. Includes electric light poles. That's the bottom line - in the 90's, city put forth effort to assist tel and electic co's by removing signs and notifying posters. Hell of a lot of good it did. Don't walk in front of me, I don't follow. Don't walk behind
me, I don't lead.

You should take pics Dun of the evading signs...

"You wanna get where?" left - right- through the lights , no the other lights- walk three blocks to donut jims where he has a special - proceed to back to eastern ave, careful of the rotary if your on foot, walk 3 miles passing 3 telephone poles take the next right after pole with adorned city sign street sweeper/ take a right to the proposed pathway / to the roadway past 2 once school buildings now trailors . "no you cant use the bathrooms" oh you wanted to get where??? you cant get there from here sorry!!! |
