I would imagine not, or you wouldn't have bothered blogging about it or with this poll...
However, I would be very disappointed if they didn't... I will wait until you spill the beans before telling my own Bean stories... To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.-Theodore Roosevelt, The Kansas City Star, May 7, 1918 |

Bean used to cater to the outdoorsman, now they cater to preppies. Their clothes are grossly overpriced, made of cheap quality, and ill-fitting.

Although they've entered the yuppie market with a vengeance, quite a long time ago now, I disagree about their quality. The price is a tad high, but
it's almost impossible to match their quality. I used to buy a lot of Woolrich shirts etc. at Tarr's, but Woolrich stuff sucks so bad nowadays that I
gave Bean's a try a year or two ago, and found I can get good-quality stuff there. I do have to pay a premium price IF I don't wait for a sale, so I
usually wait for a sale.

Bean "caters" to a healthy, active life-style (just "preppies," eh?). Clothes are a tad expensive but well made.

I have a number of Bean products that I have been wearing/using for over a decade and they are still in good shape. I bought one of their leather tote bags at
the outlet store when I first moved to Maine in 1987 and it still goes to the library and shopping with me on a regular basis. They aren't cheap but they
are very, very good --- and usually pretty accommodating, in my experience.
My Dad's Bean fishing creel is still hanging on the wall in my sewing room. It must be 50 years old....
True art is moral: it seeks to edify life, not to debase it, to hold off, at least
for a little while, the twilight of the gods and of us.

i have abused LLBeans generous return policy a few times... i've exchanged backpacks school year to school year...beach chairs from summer to summer etc. i
too am a little embarrassed to look a cashier in the face and ask to return an item i have been using for months...so, i always save the return slip enclosed
with my mail order (btw. i have a LLBean charge card and get free shipping and monogramming) so, i fill out the form and check the "reason for
return" box that says "did not perform as expected" i have never been refused or questioned.

Beans certainly caters to the people with active life styles...
I have NEVER had an issue with ANY returns there, they always take it back, no matter what the reason, or how badly it has been worn.. Mr Zanny just bought all of his work clothes there, for that reason.. I also bought, a couple of years ago, the Rolling Duffle Bags, size Extra large, because coming back from Ft Myers, I had a Ziplock Bag full of FMB Sand, and the TSA Agents tore through my bags, and they actually tore them... When I called to complain about it, they told me Tough Shit, we thought you had a kilo!! HA HA on them, it was only sand!! So, anyway- we bought the LL Bean ones, because not only can you tell it's yours when it comes off the Tarmack, but if it happens to tear again, because of TSA Agents, or what ever, I can just have it replaced... Plus, it can hold enough stuff for 2 Adults, for a week, packed full of Summer Clothes |

Those who buy at Beans these days are a very diverse crowd---especially in the outlets which are springing up all over. Their quality absolutely can't be
beat and when you consider that and all the benefits of doing business with them, I don't believe the prices are high at all. Consider what you pay at
Target for something that won't last a fraction of the time and isn't half as well made? In the end, Beans is probably cheaper.
Some time ago, my spouse had an old buttondown collar shirt which had been through years and years of hard wear and FINALLY started to wear out in a spot. He sent it to them NOT for a refund, but just to let them know how long it lasted and how pleased he was. New one arrived a week later. Gotta love that kind of dedication to customer loyalty. The other thing I appreciate about Bean is the quality of their service people when you call to order or ask for info on something. Absolutely top of the line people who are helpful, efficient, engaging, and just plain nice to do business with. How often do we find that these days? |

Actually Squig, that's probably why their prices are high, to cover the cost of people returning items that they shouldn't? Not slamming ya, just
saying.
One thing I like about LLBEAN is that they will send a call tag if you want to return something bought through the catalog or on their online website. I often shop online and am never sure if things will fit right and they make it easy to return them if they don't. Good quality stuff.

refused. They may be now getting a lot of apparel and equipment from overseas but at least they insisted that their service stay not only US based but ME
based. Kudos to them!

You know, honestly, on most things I really don't think their prices are high. We're so used to shopping in places like Target or other discounters
that maybe we're comparing apples and oranges when it comes to price for quality. I find comparable stuff to theirs to be about the same price or
even higher elsewhere. Plus no tax and much of the time, free delivery.
Joe, you're killin' us with these installments! What do you think this is-----a soap opera???? Bwahahahahaaaa. There better not be a freakin' end of season cliffhanger either!!!! |
