What's up for Mother's Day? Favorite places to go, things to do, meals to eat? Or just a hug and a kiss?

tentatively going to Passage To India with the boy.
I'd rather laugh with
the sinners than cry with the saints
The sinners are much more fun... |

I love to spend the day, in my garden, with my Girls...
I have a bunch of Bulbs I am going to plant, along with getting my front gardens raked, and all of the dead plants out of there.. They recommend leaving the dead plants on the ground for the winter here, since they are so severe... I have a Gift Cert for my favorite Garden Center/ Florist here, I got it for my birthday... and I ordered a Pink Lilac yesterday, and hopefully, the owner got one for me yesterday afternoon!! I wanted to get something flowering, and perennial, so I can have a gift from my 2 friends every year. I love Lilacs SOOO much, and pink is my favorite flower color, so I can not think of a more perfect plant... Except, maybe some Pink Peonies |

I have a friend who is honoring his mother by casting her ashes at sea... she had a good life, and they have been celebrating it.
Reminds me of an event a few years ago, down in Florida... the one burial where things didn't go as planned was my long-time friend Betty. Her husband Bill is a boat lover and so burial at sea was the way it had to go. He bought a special urn that was supposed to dissolve in water and we all went out to a special place where the St. Martins river meets the Gulf of Mexico. Big circle of boats at least thirty all tied together, words were said, and then Betty's urn was placed in the water, at first it floated and we all just kinda looked not knowing what to do or say, then it slowly sank in 4 feet of crystal clear water and sat there on the bottom bubbling. I offered to shoot it full of holes, but that idear was nixed immediately... Finally Bill said, "okay someone has to go in and get it and we're going to dump the ashes out." Betty's 21-year-old daughter volunteered, (she was wearing a bathing suit, oh lawdy, she was) jumps in get the urn and tried to dump the ashes, but by this time water had seeped in and the ashes were all stuck together, so Bill, being a tool guy, pulls out his Leatherman™ multi tool thingie and gives it to the daughter, who still standing in the 4 feet or so of water begins to dig her mom's ashes out... well of course they float and get all over her bathing suit (lawdy...) and she's torn as to whether she should brush them off, it was an uncomfortable moment for all, but Bill, being Bill said, "well, Betty gets the last laugh again" and that seemed to ease the tension a bit. What a deal though. To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.-Theodore Roosevelt, The Kansas City Star, May 7, 1918 |
