If you need a word processor, spreadsheet and presentation software package, IBM offers Lotus Symphony for free. It isn't able to deal with Office 2007 documents yet but will be
able to soon.

B - do you know if Symphony is compatible with the original Lotus Suite? I have tons of documents in Lotus Word Pro and spreadsheets in Lotus 123. Couldn't
find this info anywhere on website for Symphony. Or is Symphony geared only to Microsoft Office conversions?

I dunno, R. Download it and try it. It isn't geared to any conversions, just tries to create and open documents based on an open standards office
framework. Micro$oft doesn't like open standards so they can monopoloze the market.

Does Open Office convert DOC files? I have a ton of DOC files and I am very open to switching but I don't want to lose those documents.
True art is moral: it seeks to edify life, not to debase it, to hold off, at least
for a little while, the twilight of the gods and of us.

Yes, Damon. It has a much better interface and is far more user friendly. Still, has its own learning curve.
