One idea I have is to cut back on city issued "take home" vehicles. Other than the Police Chief , Fire Chief and the Mayor, I don't think anyone else should be allowed to take a city owned vehicle home everyday. Why should tax payers be paying for an employee's insurance, wear and tear, maintenance on city vehicles driven back from home to work. Does the employee have to pay for their own gas for the city vehicles or are tax payers paying for this. I would imagine this would save thousands a year. I don't know how many "take home" vehicles are allowed in this city but this needs to be looked at. Does anyone have any real numbers regarding this. Which departments have "take home" vehicles and how many are there in this city?
