I'm lucky that I work at home and don't have to do too much driving but it certainly has curtailed the extra trips I used to make. I'm glad I
don't still work in New Hampshire! Back then I'd fill the tank twice a week!!

My vote was me only. Not the other half.
I was 50-75. |

Is anyone planning on buying a smaller car next time around or a scooter?
I wonder how many scooters will be purchased with Bush-trying-to buy-votes-for-Republicans-checks. |

No scooters in my future and we already have a pretty economical car. I heard the other day on some news show that sales of SUVs are way down. Duh.

When gas went up over $2 a gallon, I was driving my Durango, with the Hemi... I can remember having an anxiety attack while paying $60 to fill that tank....
and by tank, I mean Military like vehicle, as it only got about 9-11 mpg...
Then, I FINALLY talked my husband into letting me trade it in, for a smaller vehicle, that gets much better mpg.. More like 22-26,.. I filled it up today, and paid $3.85, and it cost me $52... He had a Ram1500, and ended up trading that in a couple of months ago, and almost TRIPLED his mpg |

Even at $26 to $50 that is $100 to $200 a month just for average driving, no big trips.

Wouldn't it be cool if it was legal to drive safe souped up golf carts on local roads? You could make parking spaces cut in half so people that drove them
could pull in straight to the curb and thus getting two golf carts per conventional parking spot.
How much do the smart cars cost? |

That would be cool....

Smart Car
I think it's pretty cool, but I'm talking about more of like a $4000 Upgraded Golf cart instead of $11,500 for the base smart car with no options. I'd rather get a used Miata I think over a smart car. |

I'd rather get a used GEO Metro for around $1,500. 50 miles per gallon. Heh!

heh heh heh
One of my friends, in HS, took a chain saw to his truck roof like that.... |

We stripped the roof off a friend's old Ford station wagon to use on his orchard. Cutting torch, not chain saw...
It was quite the ride -- we called it the "409 Bomb". I refuse to get a smaller car, but I've curtailed my driving.
My car gets around 34 mpg. |

That's excellent mileage - similar to what I get just hoofin' around town - Honda Civic, 11 years old, manual transmission, no xtras.

I think a more interesting question would be, has the increase in gas prices changed your driving habits and/or what are you doing to compensate for the extra
money you have to spend on gas?
