There are some here that I have no desire to meet for obvious reasons. I was thinking this morning about what an awful impression this board can give to people who stumble across it while looking up Cape Ann on the internet. Let's say they were thinking of spending some vacation time here and search Cape Ann. The link to CAO comes up and they click on it and read a few threads. OMG they would probably run away fast.............thinking that the Gloucester locals are all whacked. It's really not a good first impression to portray. Gloucester needs the tourism (even though the traffic and extra people at the beaches are a pain in the butt) and if I was an "outsider" reading this board I'd say no freaken way and think "WTF is wrong with those people" ... 'LIFE IS LIKE A BOX OF CHOCOLATES...YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'RE GONNA GET'

This board is absolutely typical of any (and most likely ALL) local message boards from across the country on the internet. Saying it's just us who go on as we do is as silly as all the people who keep harping on about how 'unique' Gloucester is. Utter rubbish.Strictly speaking/by definition it is no more 'unique' than any other town, city, whatever in this or any other country. Colloquially speaking/by usage, it's just another Eastern seaboard waterside place to live where there are rich and poor, good and 'bad' people, drunks/harridans/poets/dumb-ass politicians/do-gooders/good cops-fat cops/teens who drink/churchgoers/pagans/, where there are lovely views, employed/unemployed, some good restaurants/some bad, where there are problems of lack of funding, the infrastructure is outdated and crumbling, etc., etc. get real, for g*d's sake.
