Econ, get outside Old Chap....you need to take a breath, lower your pulse! It sounds like you've been keeping a lot of stuff pent up for some time now - yeah?!
Whatever Joe - or anybody else - says...your mind is made up; you'll continue to press onward regardless with your mish-mash of facts and opinions, and some truly excellent syntax supporting your quite aggressive style. Bludgeoning people with all that stuff isn't the best tactic, though. But it makes for fun and partially informative reading, I will say.
As I said - we shall agree to disagree; manipulating facts and figures to fit your speculation...which is essentially what you are doing...looks good. But so did Jimmy for Mayor this time last year.
GoO - can't handle the message so you want to attack the messenger "Old Boy"? Talk about made up minds! You people read a table in a report
prepared by someone who didn't have the first idea about what he was doing and had never prepared such an analysis (his own admission) and you accept it as
gospel because it agrees with your preconceived opinion. Maybe THAT is why Gloucester is in the shape it is - because people like you kept electing the people
who caused all these problems because they were your friends, or they went to school with you, or you're related? So you just let them go and do what they
wanted without questioning their numbers or their decisions - and where did that get us? So cry me a river when you complain about the budget for the schools
or fire department or sewers - these problems are as much the fault of Gloucester's "old guard" good ol' boys as the people they elected.
I am very happy thank you. Just wanted to get you some accurate information on this to balance the discussion as you people apparently didn't know what
you were talking about with the DIF/TIF and the finances. We won't solve it here...the project is going to happen. But it didn't have to be this way
and could have been a very big positive and a long-term success if it had been more integrated into the community. I wanted MORE from Sam on the development,
you see - I didn't oppose it. But I assure you, I and many I know, will be at every budget meeting when the City asks for more money to say, "Wait,
before you get that tax override or budget increase - what about the money from Gloucester Crossing? How much have we made from that and where is the money
going?" It won't be going away as an issue.
