Swimming Pools in Gloucester |
Lead | |
|
Does anyone know where I might find out infomation on swimming pools. Im getting ready to put one up that is fully fenced and gated. Before doing so, I would
obviously like to know he local laws regarding clearances and yard fences. I figure city hall would be able to tell me, but figured Id ask the
"masses". Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

check the zoning ordinance on the city's web site for set backs etc.

Don't install a diving board or slide, if you do you will have one hell of a time finding an insurance company to write the homeowners policy.

You have to go to the building inspector. There are safety rules like ground wires all around and such.

when I put mine in about 15 years ago I had to get a building permit, electrical permit and have the plans signed off by the DPW director (for water) and
Conservation Commission among others.

NS,
I can tell by your Avatar pic that you don't care....BUT, I had to laugh because you will now probably get reamed for having a pool off of your "details"! You gave a harmless answer to a question. I will ck back. Maybe I am wrong but I just read the Water & Sewer rate SHOW!

When I had mine, use of Gloucester city water in the pool was forbidden. I had to get a tank truck to come. I do not know what the present rules are, but they
will tell you at the building inspector's office.

Im going to call the building inspectors office this morning. I heard that the water might have to be trucked in as well. The paperwork I found above does give
me a few tasks to take care of. The Electrical stuff is easy for me as Im in that business. The fence question is the one that Im most concerned about right
now. I have an elevated yard that is about 3.5 ft above my drive way. Id like to avoid a 6ft fence if its not needed. Im just not sure. Thanks for the advice
so far.

While I understand that for esthetic reasons a six foot fence is not so nice. But, coming home and finding a neighbors child in the pool is even worse. Please
do not skimp on the fence.

I Definately wont skimp. I have 3 young children too. IF you can picture it, I already have the fence that goes around the circumferance of the pool, a ladder
with a gated enclosuer with a lock. I plan on building a deck with a high railing and locking gate and an pool alarm. Keeping the kids out is a major priority.

mothership - with the amount of details I work (lots of time for golf and a life) my pool would only be a blow-up wader.
