Wait a minute! You mean Bill Clinton impregnated these girls? Were they in cheerleading uniforms or blue dresses???

Be sure to read Today's Sat. 6/21 GDT, all the way thru, esp. the editorial page, where the GHS media frenzy is discussed, as it starts to settle down.
Thoughtful reflections, rather than the initial kneejerks. re: How could we have handled the worldwide attention on GHS pregnancies, more effectively at the
local level? And re-focusing of the original data, calculating additional pregnancies, providing more information...
Also sincere thoughts about the poet lauriate matter and how it was handled, as expressed in letters to the editor, etc. Sat.'s Times is often overlooked in the busy activities of weekends, but is always meaty, worthy of some time spent reading it, beyond just the usual Police and Court notes, also juicy today. |

A little complicated, I know...but there you go. Sometimes these threads aren't that linear. |

Zanny is a beautiful example of my thoughts posted under yet another thread about the same subject
People who want help will get it. People who want better for themselves and their family will strive for better. People who are content to be on the system will remain on the system. |

Dun: I do know you, and I know you have never raised a child. It is so easy to say what you WOULD do if you had a child. Anyone who has actually done it,
knows what I mean. If you don't have kids its easy to have lofty ideas about how to do it and how to shape children to attain the desired result. Its a
day to day thing, pal. Ups and downs. Your experiences with your parents happened in the 60's. Way before all the internet, cell phones, blah, blah,
blah. You 're a smart guy & talented photographer, but give it up on this point

there... It has taken a lot of blood, sweat and tears to get as far in life as we have.. My next major goal is to attain my Marketing Degree.. I know we
aren't going to be living in this one horse town forever... I'm going to need a real job when we move!! (in like 5-10 years)

Dun's dad was one heck of an athlete and an all around nice guy and if Dun is half the man his dad was he is OK in my book.

For once I can agree with Retired on something!
Dun's the best --- a gentleman, an artist, compassionate and supportive --- a rare breed these days.

Zanny, I find you to be a great role model for young mothers on subsidy. It is possible to make something of oneself, just some good old fashioned will and
determination. There is no doubt you will obtain your Marketing Degree, good luck!

Rocky Neck-I too know Dun and you can bet that just because he does not have children of his own it doesn't mean that he has no idea how to raise one. If
you really knew him than you would know that he has the respect of every and I mean every child in his family. He has been a father figure to more than a few.
I can tell you one thing for sure, the love and devotion he has for these kids is incredible. He has taught them the difference between right and wrong and he
knows exactly what it takes to give and receive respect from them. Being a biogical father does not make you a Dad!!!

One more thing-He's not only 1/2 the man his father was...................he's right there along side of him! I'm SURE of that!!! Oh, that felt
good!!!

It's amazing to me that anyone would presume to think that a person who may not have children knows nothing about raising them. Talk about being ignorant.
By what we see all around us day to day there are PLENTY who HAVE children who don't know squat about raising them.

Some people aren't present for the raising of their children.
