Monday 6/23/08 9:05 am. Media coverage continues regarding GHS pregnancy statistics, and an ALLEGED pact, among young students, to become pregnant, have
babies and raise them together. Channels 4, 5, and 7 filming at 8:30 am, in the GHS pkg lot. (CNN did not appear to be there, but could , of course be linked,
to other Boston channels.) Mayor Kirk is reported to be having a meeting this morning, with local officials, and high school and school dept. staff, hoping
to clarify the news reports, flashing around the world, re: GHS pregnancy statistics.

Must be a slow news week.

Ev. Are you kidding me? Do you NOT think this is a very disturbing and newsworthy topic? If it were happening in Smithtown, USA....would you NOT be interested
in it. I think the drama surrounding it is that it embodies the culture our kids are growing up in and the direction that our kids are going.
The US has to do a better job with its kids. I also wish it weren't HERE but it is. Slow week nothing. This definitely warrants attention. We are after all, going to be supporting 17 girls and 17 new babies. |

There must be another high school with more than 17 pregnancies somewhere in the country.

"This is so old, and over reported, it's sickening. macpac" Yah, but don't you think parents could explain to their kids that if a microphone
or tv camera, gets shoved in their faces, outside their own high school, that they can just walk away with no comment? No one has to be broadcast around the
world, making comments, when so much is not yet known, and much is being denied, especially that girls had a pact.
I posted what I saw in the HS pkg lot early this am, in part to give parents, faculty, students, HS employees "a heads up," before school, that a VERY active media was waiting outside in the GHS pkg lot, for heaven's sake, cameras rolling, facing the HUGE GHS letters on the buildings's facade. All they needed were a few unaware kids, in their rolling camera lenses, talking into microphones, to get their audio stories, and film shots, filed. I think it's very unfair for the media to be here, gushing on overkill, with local teens and pre-teens being asked to comment, in front of rolling cameras, unwanted scenes which could remain in their resumes, and curriculum vitae for the rest of their lives. It's downright scary, imo. |

Most of 'em were spot on. The editorial, this time, was typical GDT drivel, though.

I can't imagine with all of our world problems and gas and heating oil crisis, that a no mind teen pregnancy would even be news worthy. What has this world
come to ? We will end up paying through taxes anyway, who cares if a bunch of young stupid little girls choose to play house, ruin their lives. Just a bunch of
new babies to slip through the social cracks of society. If they could only realize in a few months how much they will learn to dislike this little bundle of
joy that will keeping them in the house, aways from their silly little parites while the friends are all out having a good time. But we all make our own
choices and should be willing to face the problems that come along with it. I can only imagine that their parents aren't much better, or they would help
take responsibility.
