Because it's her money, and she can do what she wants with it. She is specifically trying to help one of these students graduate high school and attend college. In what world is that a bad thing?

Of course she can do what she wants with her money. Of course it's not a bad thing either. It's not about the money ($1000 is not going to make college possible for someone who wouldn't otherwise be able to go), IMO it's about the message it can send to those who get pregnant and choose to keep their baby and those who choose not to get pregnant.

OK, so I'll grant you that Young may be trying to give back something since she ostensibly makes her living writing about this age group. But are you saying she isn't also possibly benefitting career wise with the gesture and the publicity surrounding it? Maybe, maybe not. We don't know either way. Consider that this is not such a new problem, but once it garnered national attention this offer surfaced. I"m just saying.........
