As I can't stand to drink coffee without creamer, I grabbed a small jar of Coffee-Mate priced at $ 2.09. When the clerk rang up the bill he said,"$ 2.69 please." I said, the price on the label states $ 2.09. Yeah, he said, that's before the added tax.
My question is; Since when did food items get taxed at a rate of 30 cents per dollar? I've heard of 5 cents per dollar on material objects, but does anyone know why Cumberland Farms would charge 60 cents on a 2 dollar & 9 cent item and call it a "tax?"
