Where is everyone watching. We change it up most years but I think the best spot is the Boulevard. Not sure about this year because we have out of town guests
coming for their first Horribles.

Good idea, I am already committed to a group, but it would be great and I hope it happens!

I drove it a couple of years ago... one word of advice, if anyone asks you to drive... Do NOT, under ANY circumstances, do this is you have a standard
transmission...
To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.-Theodore Roosevelt, The Kansas City Star, May 7, 1918 |

Oh my achin' arse .... I go to the parade. I dance to the bands. When there's a lag, I walk around a bit, happily catching up with friends I
don't often see. I am so not concerned about people who do the hosie thing on the boulevard ... it's one parade. One day in the life ...

This is my first year living on the Boulevard and I plan on setting out a few chairs ahead of time. If I do not, someone else will! Agree the parade is usually
not too entertaining but this year has potential with all the media-attracting events we have sponsored in our fine city. I hope someone has a tow truck towing
a banged up car with a bleeding Sandra Bullock look-alike hanging out of it, followed by 18 mock (or real?)pregnant teens being hounded by the press...

I watch from pleasant st by the moose. I can get a burger there and use the bathroom. We have fun. It's always the same bunch of people. I look forward to
it every year but I do have to agree the lack of variety of floats is obvious. I miss the marching bands from Quebec...they were awesome.

"Parade" here... One is with her PreSchool friends and the the other one is going dressed up as a Taco, promoting the business she works for... I
have to make a taco costume today |

Is there a link anywhere to the parade route? Or where to view the fireworks? Are the fireworks right over the harbor? I live up near Rocky Neck, so I'm
thinking it might be easier to walk over that way than down to Main St....

It takes lots of dough to bring in marching bands ....
It takes lots of volunteers to fund-raise and organize .... It takes people like y'all to create and enter floats .... The parade starts at the high school .... down the boulevard, Rogers Street to Dunkin Donuts, left then left and up Main, right onto Pleasant (Brown's Mall) to Prospect, left on Prospect (St. Ann's), right on Railroad (Shaw's), right onto Washington, left onto Centennial ... back to the High School. The fireworks go off from Stage Fort Park .... over the Harbor. |

While I agree that staking out parade spots is wrong, it's been going on longer than I've been alive! I remember my father parking the station wagon at
Shaw's the night before back in the 60's.

We always went to my Grandparent's house for the day, and walked down to Washington Street to watch, or Centennial Ave.

And no matter what. At the end of the day....everyone has gotten a spot and watched the parade.

The Paint Factory area of Rocky Neck used to be a pretty good place to watch from KalesyGal. I assume it still is from along that shore. If you can not get on
the property itself, probably along Horton St. is fine.

This is on the Gloucester homepage The Gloucester Police Department will enforce all parking regulations on the Boulevard for the
upcoming parade on the 3rd of July. Vehicles parked overnight will be towed and articles left on the median will be removed. Overnight parking of RV's is
prohibited at all times. Chief John Beaudette

No matter how bad the parade is...politicians/lack of bands/not enough floats it is still TRADITION~!! Everyone should go; its part of our freedom!! (saved
spots or no) As a kid we watched from Tony's corner. For years we watched from the boulevard ( as semi-adults)
Now, we watch it from a friends home, the last stretch before it hits GHS. Have a happy & safe 4th everyone! |

The Blvd is the worst! Trucks park there the night before, which is against the law.
This is a good spot for young children because it is the beginning of the parade and you can get them home early. The police should enforce the law and free the space up for people to stand. Plus it would give us cashflow to pay for the clean up and overtime. Although I realize this is the high lite of the Gloucester Social Season. |
