Things don't really happen for a reason until you attend Fiesta!

That reminds me that today while I was innocently standing on the beach peering through my binoculars, a big chunk of sandwich landed on my shoulder. I looked
around and there were people on the beach behind me and up on a house porch. As I was about to yell at some kids up there, the guilty party disappeared in the
direction of the greasy pole flapping his wings angrily Deciding that is could have been much worse, I wiped the sandwich up.

One of the coolest customers on the beach. Anger, acceptance, action.

Let's see what kind of police notes we get tomorrow. Sanitized and no comment as they have been lately? Essex has more police notes than Gloucester lately.
Another brilliant move by the "Chief" to cut off communication with the public!

Fiesta is fiesta is fiesta .... I do not think it's any worse than it was when I was in my teens and twenties. I was in the thick of the bars and drinking
then, the brawls ... I think it's our perception. It's that damn age thing ....
It's not all about religion ... it's about family, gumbadi, cuzzins .... Leave it where it is, come down on the bars. They over serve, they serve intoxicated peeps, they give it up for the 4th. |

And ... it's not just about the Fort. It's Prospect St., Washington St. and everywhere in between .... it's walking through the neighborhoods,
stopping in here and there for a soda or beer and plenty of pasta ....

ATV | ||

I was on the beach saturday for the greasy pole. I was with a group and we all had beers in cups. The cop parked his atv near us and had the thing running for
quite awhile. The fumes were awful. Thankfully he finally shut it off. I had to scratch my head trying to figure out the reason for it on the beach.
Sure...sand...atv..but the crowds of people make operating it a danger. He basically had to keep to end of the beach...there was no where else to go. IMO he
would have been of more use on foot.....but what do I know??? And btw...the mayor and her family sat near us...no beers in her hand!

I am not surprised it took him awhile to shut it off. On Friday evening I sat in front of a well-known detective while he and at least three other uniformed
cops tried for several minutes to simply start the ATV. Very humorous! Finally, another well-known detective came over and rocked it back/forth for a
coupla seconds and then started her right up. The look on his face was priceless as he walked away. Glosta's finest!

I'm not Italian, and, IMO, the Fiesta is as it always was - a drunken mess. I remember going as a kid (with Italian friends) and seeing lots of drunks and
drinking. In my 20's, I joined them.
I think it's age related. As a child, you just see the rides and games. As a teen you go to hang out, eat, maybe drink a bit - but now start to notice all the drunks. In your 20's, you party with the drunks. In your 30's and 40's you are back to going during the day with your own kids and don't see too many drunks. In your 50's and 60's you once again notice all the drunks and say 'it was not like that in my day' - when, in actuality, it was. |

that pretty much sums it all up. age makes viewpoints different.
