I concede she told us what to expect and it's happening. closed firehouses, no treasurer, DPW director, purchasing agent, auditor, legal etc... but the
Schools are taken care of.

The fact is schools got 1 million MORE over last years budget plus another $400,000 from private funding while other departments were level funded or cut. The
mayor is deceptive when she says that all departments took a 5% cut. For example the schools requested 1.5 million and got 1 million. They call that a cut.
The fire department budget was $320,000 LESS than last year or 3.3 %, even though the ambulance is projected to bring in $ 900,000 in collected revenue at the
end of the current fiscal year.

OK...I stand corrected about that on actual figures, but the schools are hardly 'taken care of'...they are as strapped as any other dept. What they
asked for was to maintain level funding...hence getting less was effectively a cut. Apples and Oranges - although I think they spend some of the money in all
the wrong places.
To say the schools need no counselors or psychologists is just ridiculous. and what's with this 'moonbat' shit?

everyone read the book "Free Lunch" which outlines ways big corporations make money off of govt funded entities. One example is ADT - who responds?
How do they compensate the PD. One city is so flooded with ADT calls they can barely do normal policing. These are isues which need to be addressed. We as
citizens cannot give away our resources w/o proper compensation to entities such as our Fd and schools. We are the one left making up the difference or taking
the hit with decreased services. I ask you to not be against or for the Mall but for the citizens of Gloucester and our future. Rolling over for Sam Park is
good for no one but Sam Park. END OF STORY!

I like how the ambulance figures keep getting higher as do sam parks needs from the city. to me, the $$ we are sending to park's projects is money we wouldn't be getting to use for the things we want to use it for.

even the mayor said that if we didn't get the 2 million, someone else would have. it wasn't $$ we could use if it didn't go to park.
I really don't want to get into the ambulance debate but is that 900k figure the result AFTER the costs of the paramedics, training, overtime and costs associated with maintenance of the 3 squads or is that before?????

I've heard that the city is not receiving all the monies billed for the ambulance services provided by the city, reportedly as much as 30 percent billed is
not received. If this is true how much does the city actually receive and what steps is the city taking to recover this money.
As crazy as it sounds they tell me one individual in the city who is on public assistance actually uses the ambulances to be transported to the hospital because his girl friend lives near the hospital and he uses the ambulance as a taxi service. This particular individual is from a family that I know has been on public assistance for four generations. |

Retired. I also know someone who uses an ambulance to get to the hospital for health care and assistance. He is unable to drive and an ambulance is better
suited for transfer than a taxi due to mobility issues. Is that what you are talking about?
Or are you saying that they get off at the hospital and migrate to the GF's house? If that is the case. DROP A DIME.
