Savory Skillet in the Browns mall. We have had them the last 2 weeks on Fridays and they are great No filler not loaded with mayo on a toasted roll with french
fries for $9.95. He has the best fish prices in Gloucester and they grill a great scallop roll

Thanks, lobsterlady! I haven't been to The Savory Skillet in a long time. $9.95 is a great deal.
Plus, you never know who you'll run into there. Being right across the street from the cop shop and the courthouse and near City Hall...

I tried one once (in fairness, it was a while ago) and suffice it to say, you get what you pay for, IMO. My guess was made from the lobbies that haven't
sold and are at the end of their sell date. Just not very fresh tasting and a tad overcooked the day I had one. Not chock full the way we're accustomed to
either and I'll bet it's S & S brand mayo just to add insult to injury! LOL But what the hell.....give it a try. Hope springs eternal.

While on the subject, CaptJoe, what is the time frame in which lobsters are really good after they leave the water? I always make mine from fresh that's
been caught and cooked that day, but never sure whether it makes such a big difference although I have to say whenever I've bought live ones (in
desperation out of town) from a supermarket tank, they really do not taste as good. ???

I'd say that buying them from someone that is constantly replenishing their water from the ocean will give you a better tasting lobster than from someone
that has a closed system (inland) in which they make their salt water and many lobsters sit in the same water that has been pooped in by lobsters that have
been in that same water for months.
If you aren't drawing your water from the ocean for your lobster system then chances are you don't have new salt water pouring over your lobsters in your tanks at all times. |
