Your experience (and that of your child) at the school clinic concerns me. Antibiotics are widely over prescribed to all of our detriment. Why on earth would that be given to a child with a negative strep test? You certainly could have taken your own child to your own Doctor later if things got worse? It obviously was not a life or death situation and time was not paramount.
That is certainly not my experience with Dr. Orr at his regular practice. He usually does not like to hand out Rx for antibiotics like candy? I know it was not him that you speak of, but it seems strange that the nurse who works with him would do that.

If anybody has some pertinent excerpts from HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996) it surely could be used in this thread. People need to know their rights and their child's. A violation of those rights would mean the possibility of filing a report against the violator with the both the State Department of Health & Human Services and the Massachusetts Board of Professional Licensure for Medical Specialty (depending on whether it was a medical provider.)
My understanding is that if it is just a number of pregnancies, there is NO liability. It is a persons personal private information (i.e. name, address, SS#'s, D.O.B., type of medical issue, etc.)

1) "John Smith, ss# XXX-XX-XXX has strep throat is a clear violation."
2) "6 girls had pregnancy tests today is not."

IMO, seeking this out retroactively is not a solution. It should be fairly instantaneous to know whether or not specific names and medical data were given/leaked to the press by any Officials. This is not worthy of time wasted on an investigation unless a document was released, which I doubt or it the Nat'l Enquirer would be paying top dollar. Hearsay, is not going to fly as a violation. If children in the school saw a pregnant child and told a reporter that is no violation.

Please let's move on for closure and solutions!
