I felt bad for John Christopher today....all day in that heat and the hot top directing traffic.
I must say, East Main St was a pleasure to drive on tonight!

Ok...but riddle me this?
Why the F*** would they choose JULY to pave the road out to Wingaersheek Beach or over to Rocky Neck. Could we not have done that in April/May or September? The height of the tourist season and we turn roads leading into the two major tourist sites into a north shore Beirut???? F***-ing Ridiculous! Who the hell is at the helm here? |

give credit where it's due.... | ||

You should be thanking Frank Ventimiglia in Engineering for chasing down a boat load of un-submitted Chapter 90 project costs, submitting them to the state and
getting the reimbursements needed so the streets could be done in the first place... Well done Frank. JG

Fair enough. But not real good for the people that are paying good, hard earned $$$, to hang in our fair City. Just a bad impression.

Mya nails it - as do the others...stop looking for fault wherever you can find it, Globby. The other (big) reason is that there is a significant projected rise
in the costs of the materials - so they got on with it while it was (comparatively) affordable.
As usual, our side of the island will be ignored and driving on 127 around Annisquam wil be like riding over a ploughed field again this winter. |

I'm not looking for fault Gang. We have company. They are here for one week and everywhere we go...traffic tieups, police details, and rotten road
conditions. I am quite rational...thanks MYA....and will now explain to them the reason why the City looks like a war zone.

As someone who lives right off East Main - I say a HUGE thanks to the folks who made paving possible - whatever the season. Sure it was a bit of an
inconvenience, but this morning's bike ride was sooooo much nicer than last Wednesdays.
Also - a shout out to the construction worker? police officer? DPW personnel? yesterday who - when I inquired about whether the whole road would really be shut down for two hours used the phrase "bureaucratic hyperbole" with a wink and a nod. Brains and good humor - what a pleasure to encounter that at 6:45 a.m.! |

Yo Y--
Last year there were 5 engineers on the payroll. Ciluffo left for Newburyport, Knowlton for Salem, and Hale became DPW Director. None of the vacancies created by these changes were filled. You now have two engineers trying to finish up projects and paperwork initiated when there were 5 on the payroll. The Chapter 90 stuff was always part of Ciluffo's workload. It was probably left in limbo until Frank V picked it up and ran with it. Kudos to him. |

Thanks for the clarification but still... I'm sure it is standard paperwork that can't be too complicated. However, good job!

Such a relief, no more "elevated manholes," a peculiar term for delays and grinding delays, detours
, especially when seen on several large orange signs .

hey smart ass because the police wrote the tickets the city gets a certain percentage of the money and that money went to paving the three sections of gloucester. |

'smart ass'? That's harsh, from the guy who wrote a pretty unclear thread title! I'll bet any number of people didn't know what you exactly
meant until you just explained it.
Ease up, Starsky! |

Really? It was always my understanding that Chapter 90 money comes to us through the state based upon a funding equation which takes into consideration the
number of public road miles, the city't population, and the number of jobs located in the jurisdiction.
Where does the ticket money enter the equation? |

Perhaps you could explain "your" formula Fishman cause it seems to differ from the states formula...but hey I'm just looking forward to it gettin
done....
Oh ya ...thats MR smartass to you ! The Chapter 90 Formula Factors: Source: Road miles - 58.33% EOT&PW Population - 20.83% Mass DOR Employment - 20.83% Mass DET This formula was developed by the Legislative Rural Caucus of the Transportation Committee. Mileage factor represents city/town accepted road miles. Employment factor represents employment within the town borders. |

Is he a police officer or a reserve officer? |
