Money can enhance whatever measure of happiness you already have, but it can't bring happiness. Momentary pleasure, yes, but not happiness.

I think it depends on how much money we're talking about.
If you have absolutely no money - and I mean, nothing in the bank, nothing to eat, nothing to pay heat - yes, money can buy happiness. If you're talking thousands of gratuitous dollars to throw around every day, than I think that depends on who you are and what you're spending it on. As someone who is unemployed as of yesterday and facing giving up my life and my home in this wonderful town I've just discovered, I say, a little money
can pay rent - and thus can buy happiness...

Hey KalesyGal, Sorry about your situation. How about this to help you start climbing the pyramid? This message board usually gets over 1000 visits a day, and
it is visited by a lot of helpful people who know everything there is to know about local businesses. How about protecting your privacy but starting a thread
explaining your skills, experience and the kind of work you would like to find? Nothing ventured..... Good Luck!

OH.........GREAT idea!!! Good luck Kalsey
I went to the Dominican Republic back in March...........I have NEVER seen so much poverty!!! It was a real eye opener....HOWEVER, the people who live there are always singing, dancing and laughing. I asked a local why everybody seemed to be so happy all of the time........his response "we don't have any worries, we don't have big houses with big mortgages, we don't buy big cars with big payments that also require insurance payments, we have extended family that helps with our elderly and our children and most of the time the sun is shining".......put things into perspective for me real quick~ Happiness comes from within.........IMHO

I have a friend who's what we call a trust-fund cowboy. Never wanted for money, never worked. He was fun when we were kids and through college. But now
that he's an adult, he's one of the most miserable people you'll ever meet. I think he's bored.

Great idea, OH! Good luck Kalsey. Sorry to hear it.
I think boredom does come from just not having a certain amount of challenges to face. If we don't have some challenges, problems to solve, opportunities to triumph over everyday struggles, there's no perspective left. |

and have seen a huge spectrum of emotional responses. It is a serious adjustment for most, as most of us are not experienced in having a lot of excess $$
around. I think the happiest I've seen are those who came into money close to a planned retirement, so they were somewhat prepared for a transition away
from regular work. On the other end of the spectrum, young people who win the lottery seem to get themselves into all kinds of emotional troubles. You can
find out in short order that a lifetime supply of cocaine or vintage wine is a surprizingly small quantity. |

Thanks to all for the thoughts and good ideas. You might just see a "Hire Me" thread in the very near future.
