Squatter should be rescued and used as a teaching tool on how man interfers with nature. Write to the site and demand it.
And then, there we stand alone naked to the world. The USA.

I just checked in - three in the nest, all on their feet, jumping and flapping. They were all standing and
I couldn't see a deformity on any of them, but it can't be squatter who went for a fly, could it? |

Who knows, AAnnie. All I know is that Squat has big problems with left and right talons. Originally, I, too, thought just the left talon. Things definitely not
looking up...

Look at Harriet (second in from left in the back)! They're all as big as she is! I'm kind of wondering if Squatter is always the one laying down, but the
last few times I saw that one get up, it wasn't his feet. You're right, Realist, it's not looking good at all for Squatter. I wonder if Harriet
will stop feeding him/her. ?

May be little guy? He is a few days behind developing. I hope squatter can land ok.

I'm sure he can land OK... it's the catching of fishies I worry about...

Cam down - again. Hope it didn't get wiped out by a squally thunderstorm! And, if so, hope the nest held intact and that all are OK. Worry, worry, worry!

Makes me wonder if we haven't been all wrong about osprey feetses... No - I won't share! Spread those wings and catch your own! | ||
|
Same thought, LWN - even before viewing eaglets.
Don't even think about it, Little Guy. No sharing.
Premise: Harriet and Little Guy at front of nest. Two out flying or fishing. One in foreground of nest holding tight to HIS fish...Squatter? If so, Squat's feet (at least R foot) OK. If not, Squatter off flying and/or fishing.

Subject: Re: OSPREY CAM DOWN
Hi Mara -
Thanks you so much for answering my email. I feel like a godmother to those 4 Osprey, having hung on their every breath since
hatching.
Question: do you folks think one of them (not the runt) has deformed talons? There is a group of us here who are worried that
perhaps s/he does and will have difficulty fishing for food.
Your expert opinion is appreciated - I will post your answer on the local message board where the Osprey thread is about 50
pages, at this point.
Thank you for your assistance.

Thanks Realist for your diligence to follow up on all our concerns who follow the Osprey tread. Good job and maybe we will learn the truth from your efforts.

Hi (EDIT), I have 2 different answers from
our staff, which I've included below. I think the bottom line is let's give the chick more time to grow, and wait and see . . .
