Is that the beautiful federal style home , the first on the right that had the sale? I would have loved to have gone just to see such a beautiful home.

You have Gordo all wrong, Rocky Neck. I can totally vouch for him. He's a really nice guy.
-------------------------------- You are entitled to your opinion, I think he's an asshole. |

By the way, many out there have been extremely generous to all sorts of Gloucester, and Cape Ann causes. Have you? No, I didn't think so.
So quit yer bellyaching, and be grateful that such generous people have allowed us all to benefit in so many ways, from providing jobs, income, preserving the arts and cultural and historical treasures, serving on umpteen boards and commissions, and generally just being wonderful friends to Gloucester and Cape Ann.
No one said anything contrary to the Bell's character ... so I have NO idea what the heck Oak is commenting on. Don't create a problem where there is one. The jist of the topic is residents of Eastern Point getting irked due to traffic caused by the estate sale. And the treasures found at the sale. |

Yes, Massa - we sho' mus' be grateful! (Rocky Neck must be a House 'servant', who knows how to be grateful, unlike we Field 'servants',
who need to be put right!)

Good for you that you like Gordo. I've known him for 40 years, and he's an idiot.

I know quite a few people out there from my sailboat racing years. There may be some right wingers out there but there are also left wingers and many in
between. I have a hunch that some newer arrivals may heel to starboard but I doubt if the mix is different from the general population.

Yes, that's quite true. My comment was to LWN as he knows-he loves to heel to starboard! "Ready about.....watch that boom!" There are many nice people down there and most have them have been around for a while. I could give a list but this is not a venue for that now is it? Suffice to say, there are some who get their nose out of joint about private vs. public as some showed yesterday. That is their problem (and upbringing IMHO.) Anyone may pass the guard (why they have one is still a question?) as long as you are heading to a friend's home, heading to Beauport, the Gonzaga Retreat house, Niles Pond, the Audubon Society trails, heading to a function at the Yacht Club, or heading to the breakwater to sight-see, hang out, or fish, etc. Always remember the low tide line is everyone's "property" so that goes for Brace Cove or elsewhere - you just have to watch who's property you step on to get those periwinkles! There is no real "private side" of any beach or rock area below the low tide line. That goes for Niles, GHB (though Mrs. C would like to tell you differently on that one), or any other parts of our coastline. Just respect it and them. ![]()

I don't "heel to starboard".... I list to port...
Besides that, my only postings in this thread were to applaud ellie's humor, Mum... why are you dragging me into a thread in which I really have not substantively participated? To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.-Theodore Roosevelt, The Kansas City Star, May 7, 1918 |

LWN,
Because I love you!
No, really because I was explaining my original comment about "all the people leaning to the right on the point" sarcastically before you made your explanation on your comment " Besides, I don't really think I can drag you anywhere you don't want to be. I know you better than that! Peace.

Well really, how the heck would you know if anyone has or not? Maybe some people just don't brag about what they have done, eh?

Eastern Point Road is a private road over which the public has a right to travel in order to get to the Federal property at the end, owned by the US Coast
Guard. The beaches are accessible to anyone who would like to walk in or park at a friends' house. You may not park on the roads to go to the beach, mostly
because there is a limited space issue and the roads must remain open to emergency vehicles. The residents association, comprised of residents who pay a fee,
have allowed birders and skaters to park along the roads for years. Certain folks who live there bitch about the cars, and like Gordon Baird, feel that the
roads are their birthright. The guard at the gate is there to inform people that they may not park along said roads and to inform them when the lighthouse
parking lot is full. When that is the case, they are expected to drive in and drive out.

Anyone remember the chain link fence that used to be on Eastern Pt and the young boy who got killed there? The chain caught him right across the throat. I do
believe the members of the EP association got sued big time for it......as well they should have.

Actually FG, you are wrong. They did get sued, but after languishing in the courts and enhancing the accounts of various attorneys, the suit was settled, with
no one held accountable - as well it should have been. Some things are just plain sad and not anyone's fault.

I hear you VR, but did they actually have the right to put that chain link fence up? It was all very sad as you said but if the fence was put up illegally,
some should have been held accoutable. But that is just my opinion.

it wasn't a fence, it was just a chain across the road. the roads are truly private. not maintained by the city (plowing water lines etc.) and that is why
they can have speed bumps. they are not legal on a public road. (same goes for the privates at wingaersheek)
