WHOOOOOOOOOOOSH!!!!!!!
To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.-Theodore Roosevelt, The Kansas City Star, May 7, 1918 |

Warner Street just after where Burnham and Warner meet. Also does anyone else remember the store at the bottom of Trask Street on Warner Street. We used to
call it Bill's. He and his wife lived in the apartment upstairs. It was torn down and now there are a couple of houses there and no more cut through from
Warner to Burnham's field.

Does anyone remember old Doc Viera's Drugstore in Magnolia Square? He sold penny candy, and I can remember guys coming in there when I was a kid, buying
bottles of wine which Doc went into the back room to get, and always put it in a brown paper bag so no one could tell what was in it! I think it was for
medicinal purposes! Old Doc was always snorting down post nasal drip! He was different, to say the least!

Ole Doc,----yep and all his white hair and effort to help them who needed help. Cool ole dude on the corner in Magnolia. The guy deserved a name like VIERA
SQUARE IN THE CENTER OF MAGNOLIA. True contributer to the town. Yep I remember him and all ways will I guess.
And then, there we stand alone naked to the world. The USA.

When my family moved from E. Gloucester to Lanesville in 1975, there was Ranta's, Wickey's, May's, Young's Market (I think that's what it
was called-same place as Arthur and Joanie's), the Lanesville Package Store, and Kit Wilson's (a gas station/package store).

it was a spaceship made from some weird wafer that tasted like the Body Of Christ wafers, filled with little beads of sugar. LOL, best description I've ever heard!! Perry's Grocery (aka Gene's) was my neighborhood store. Gene tallied your purchases on a paper bag and if you were short, he'd just make a note and you could pay him next time. Ceasar's was another favorite - if he knew you, you were allowed to go behind the counter and pick out your own penny candy - and he sold sparklers! |

be done to change it from a parking lot back into a playground? I know that it would never be the same without Ceasar Roland

What about Mamie's. I am showing my age now. The vacant lot at corner of Witham street across from Amelia used to have a big white house with a porch and
a little country store. They had loads of penny candy in there. Amelias was a horse barn at the time.

That reminds me, that Tobey Ann steamed right by me and Melissa and the two grandkids off Folly Point headed for the river a couple of days ago. We tried to
wave but it looked like the boat was on autopilot, could see no one in the cabin. The Lady J was right behind her.
