Take it back in time before urbin renewal---because that was the begining of the end of Gloucester.
Sail before the winds of change, never will it be the same .

Has anyone noticed the top of the tower through the mesh? It is GORGEOUS! They've polished the copper
and restored it to its original finish. It will be dazzling when the mesh comes down!
I say knock down both the bridges....

I'd change it's latitude to about 30 degrees N. Maybe separate it from the main land by 2 or 3 miles. Require that all restaurants be located on the
water and offer outside dining. Plant palm trees on all the beaches. And allow the health professionals in the school system to distribute birth control to
students upon request.

Gypsy,
Oh, I don't know about that knocking down both bridges (actually three: the train bridge)! That would mean we would all have to live peacefully together in harmony. Then there is Island Fever let me think on that and on my own answer for a bit?

The train is okay, as are boats --- I'll even consider a buses
only bridge, but no more of these mobile assholes from over yonder clogging up our streets.

Make Rogers Street one way, eastbound. Except that would impede truckers. Gloucester traffic will always be a clusterfuck.

I'd bring back the fiesta the way it was when I was a young girl 40 years ago.

I guess it is more of a world change but here goes.... | ||
|
If I could change one thing in Gloucester what would it be?
I would bring back the time when children played in their neighborhoods all day long (and parents were not too afraid to let them out of their sight) and the kids didn't come home until supper time because they were having so much fun OUTDOORS IN THE FRESH AIR all year round! Back when the worst thing was you got in trouble for not making it to supper on
time!
IDK if that is what you are looking for? Maybe you really want specific change that is plausible not a pipe dream.

I'd retire Gus Foote and rehab the fort into a sea-side resort

Mothership, I think that would be a change for Any City, USA, and I am with you, it's a change I would love to see.

Would love for the "city' to have been "pro-active' instead of reactive. We need to promote tourism and positive growth.
Set short term goals and long term goals and stay with them. Would love to rewrite all city contracts with the unions so we ' the public' aren't getting stuck with all the ramifications of fulfilling them. ( increase in every rate/tax... to honor the committments to the contracts) Yeah, I know it is more than one thing. Sorry. |

We need to promote tourism and positive growth. Just out of curiosity have either of you ever attended a tourism council meeting or a tourism marketing meeting? I attend them and there are over a hundred people that show up and who are all creating ideas and attractions and packages to bring people into the city. I'd like to know how you think we could be working any harder at that...

Working hard is one thing, Gyps...we need working effectively - at the very least being more visible with the results.

We need to "work smart..."
If I could change one thing, I'd completely revamp the fiscal structure of this city... of course, that's more than on e thing, when you come right down to it, but that's what I'd do... To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.-Theodore Roosevelt, The Kansas City Star, May 7, 1918 |
