Sure beats endless monotonous sunny days with no relief in sight. If we had no rain, our lawns would look like shit and we'd be blaming the weatherman.

The good thing about this much rain is what it does for gardens, everything I've planted is growing so fast. We've already made 4 cuts of the broccoli, the zucchini, summer squash, beans, cucumbers are picked daily and the tomato plants and eggplants look great. I've already had a couple of the grape tomato and they are very sweet and the big beefs have good size already. We planted brussel sprouts for the first time this year and the plants are huge but haven't seen any of the sprouts yet. If we get a week of good, hot weather I'd expect to have our hands full of fresh vegetables.
Don't blame me, I voted for Muffy.

Ever read The Black Dahlia, by James Ellroy? Classic L.A. detective novel.
Even if you don't like that genre, Ellroy is at his masterful best. Oops, forgot to issue a TDA! |

Got another keyboard around? Should work. Biggest computer killer: thunderstorms and lightning. If you don't have a 20,000 joule surge protector for all
your appliances, you're screwed in New England.

Imagine how screwed you'd be in a place with more frequent and more powerful storms!

Better than a dead rabbit, though tomatoes do leave a stain. Seltzer water or club soda help.

Ever read The Black Dahlia, by James Ellroy? If you liked that you should read his My Dark Places! It is autobiographical about the murder of his own mother when he was 10. It will chill you to the bone and give a lot of insight into the way he writes. Certainly makes his L.A. Confidential and The Big Nowhere all the more tense. He is the master of noir --- along with James M. Cain. I just picked up an old, old book of his that contains three of his novels, The Postman Always Rings Twice, Mildred Pierce and Double Indemnity. Great stuff.

It was pouring down in Lincoln this morning, thunder and lightning. Water was a foot deep in spots on the highway, slowing traffic to a crawl as we made our
getaway back to the shop. Got up to Peabody on 128, and the streets were dry! Don't care for this rain? Just remember, it ain't snow!
