#1 son is about ready to take his driver's test. I signed him up for this course and was wondering if anyone has experience with it. The literature said
that the kids who have taken the course statistically have had 70% fewer accidents than the general new driver population. There is a $50 discount for signing
up on line. http://www.madcf.org/adp.php

I have heard they're VERY instructive and also a lot of fun... go for it... I'd like to try one out some time...
To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.-Theodore Roosevelt, The Kansas City Star, May 7, 1918 |

Very wise decision, 99! Most experienced drivers are not very good at handling skids, and the only way to get good at it is to do it. When your tires
breakaway, the control characteristics of your vehicle change drastically, but it IS controllable. You may actually find someday that you have saved your
son's life.

That's my hope OH. The more tools we can give them to arm themselves against dangerous situations, the better. Growing up in a rural setting we seldom
had to deal with roads like 128. So, when I was a new driver my dad used to take me down a couple of hours south of our home to the Schuylkill Expressway in
PA, an SOB of a highway which because of it's notoriously dangerous conditions people referred to as the Surekill. We'd go up and down and on and off
exits until I could do it without my heart pounding. I never forget how intimidating it was but the experience was invaluable. 128 is not as bad but it is
pretty deplorable, especially the drainage in a storm and the on ramps with no acceleration lane.

I couldn't agree more, 99. The driver's "training" required by law (I think it is) is ok as far as the rules of the road are concerned, but 6
hours of driving in "normal" conditions is pretty poor experience. I was 16 years old when I got my license, and realized then that I didn't know
enough to be safely on the road. I took some more lessons then from a retired cop who helped immensely. I also took Dad's Buick out in snow storms to empty
parking lots on Sunday mornings to experiment and to learn. I wish I had taken the course which you are providing for your son. From it, he will learn about
what to do in a split second event which could insure his survival an that of his passengers. He may also come away with a better sense of how difficult skid
control really is, and give more thought to how to avoid it in the first place. At any rate, he will be much less likely to panic and freeze during a skid,
which is what most people do.

I did SkidSchool. Great learning experience, and lots of fun too! Too bad you don't get an insurance discount for it...
