flickr.com is a free photo-sharing site - and much more.
If your account or group is "public", anyone can view and registered viewers can leave comments and questions.
You can add tags, which are search terms. When viewers search a word, results are clustered by the tag words.
You can add post-it type notes to your photos that appear on a mouse-over.
You can form groups. You can join groups. Groups can have discussions.
I created a Cape Ann Online group.
The basics:
Create an account - if you already have a Yahoo account, you're all set.
You can use a "screen name" on your account.
Go to the Cape Ann Online group page and Join Group. I have left the group public for now, meaning anyone can join without asking.
Back at your account, upload photos. Photos must be marked Public to be added to the group. Viewers of the group photos will be able to link back to your account, so pay attention when you upload photos and mark private any photos you don't want general viewers to see.
Click on the thumbnail for the photo you want to add to the group. Above the enlarged photo there will be a menu. Click send to group. A window should come up with a list of groups you have joined.
You need to put five photos in your account to have the content reviewed and accepted and viewable by the public.
The photo group might be a fun way to archive Cape Ann Online photos in one place.
It does take some time to find your way around the site - there are so many features.
